It hurts if you get hit by a squash ball though ![]()
I was going to be a douche and say its for people who are shit at tennis. ![]()
It is though!
It is the equivalent of late eighties/ nineties squash. Imo.
Eff me!
Sounds poor.
This has reminded me to delete my data from their site, so thanks!!!
You’re still uploading activities ![]()
You have got to upload it first to delete it.

Ergo; this has reminded me ![]()
They are pretty big. It’s not like looking for a submarine ![]()
Officer reportedly leaks location of French aircraft carrier with Strava run Officer reportedly leaks location of French aircraft carrier with Strava run - BBC News
Are we sure that’s not the air tag from @jeffb 's luggage
That was my comment at work when someone was talking about it
The point should be why no swim? That is the real question.
Why 500m of elevation on the run, (I made that up)
Noticed the Strava ref bot pulled 3 segments (out of about 50) on my ride today, not sure why, they seem fairly uncontroversial ![]()
I don’t really care, which is probably just as well as it looks like the bot’s decision is final and cant be contested.
Edit: think the GPS elevation data was having a moment during those segments. They all include this point where the grade is allegedly 40.6%. Dorset can be a bit lumpy, but not that lumpy. Not sure what could have caused that glitch, Garmin normally quite reliable, think this was just after the hail storm though so maybe to do with that
.
Finally got round to activating the Strava premium insurance perk, primarily for the taxi recovery option should I get stranded on an Audax or middle of nowhere! It covers up to £55 apparently, either lift to a local railway station, home or bike repair shop.
Also covers missed race insurance up to £75, I think it is running only and I’m not sure I’d claim anyway TBH otherwise they’d get sick of me fairly quickly ![]()
Last one is gadget insurance up to £350 if it is lost\damaged while recording a Strava activity
but that would barely cover half of some devices.
I do need to read how to actually make a claim if I’m stranded ![]()
So Strava predicted times, what do people think?
As hinted in my half marathon race report, Strava said pre-race I could run 1h24 and change. In the end I ran 1h25 and change, depending if you stop the clock at 21.1k or at the finish line. Pretty close, and maybe a 1h24 was on if I had committed a bit earlier. So pretty good.
Only problem is, after the run, it has updated the prediction to 1h22. So after running a half marathon race slightly slower than the pre-race prediction, the algorithm now thinks I should be running even quicker. Over 5s/km quicker. My own estimate is that 1h24 is reasonable, but 1h22 is currently out of reach.
This is coming to a head because of the marathon in 4 weeks… Strava was saying 3h04, again pretty much aligns with my thoughts. It has moved that up to 3h01 now. Only the most optimistic calculators say a 1h25 half translates to a 3h full, and in my experience even my best conversions have been worse than ideal. All this is a long winded way of saying, I think 3h05 is a more realistic.
Is anyone else beating their Strava predictions?
It’s trying to tell you: 2h 59m 59s…
edit here’s mine. Think the 5, 10 and half are very accurate as per recent races. Within 15 seconds. Won’t be troubling a marathon any time soon though.
That’s what I’m afraid of!
