Latvia?
There was a sign in the changing rooms of the Exeter Uni gym/sports hall explicitly asking people not to take pics and selfies as other people may be in them/not want to be I them!
These youngsters actually needed a sign to tell them this!
Nicely played sir.
Restarted lifting last week,
StrongLifts 3x5 protocol twice per week. A long way to go but no point rushing. Squatting 40kg. Might get back to 100kg in a million years.
35 years since I was last there - wasnāt a problem back in the day
Im on 50 now, but 4 x 3 (free bar, Smith machine would be quite a bit more)
I could go higher but still getting gym imposter syndrome currently especially as i was doing 70kg deads last week and some guy came up to me to let me know my left heal was coming off the floor (which i appreciate), but he then said āyes i put my back out doing a warm up alsoā WU FFS, the WU is bare bar
Injured lower back doing Trap Bar DL 2 days ago.
Not pushing the weight really just poor ankle mobility and ended up leaning too far forwards.
Doesnāt feel too bad so just gunna take it easy for the next week and see if it recovers of its own accord.
Accidentally did 5x5 today
Leg painful to walk but no sign of injury when lifting
Iām still avoiding deadlifts, worried about my back and how to fit them in.
Iām doing a Push, Pull, Legs split and deadlifts are a Pull day exercise but I still see them as a big hit on the legs which would screw up legs day.
Iām up to 110kg on squats (6 reps) but the f*cking 1RM calculator said that was worse than 100kg for 10 reps I was doing before so need to get my reps up.
For comparison Iām up to 85kg for 4 reps on bench.
Got a big month of this starting in a week or so.
Run wise Iām shifting fast enough to be competitive 55-60 hyrox next year, I could just do with a bit more ā strengthā WHILST KEEPING MY WEIGHT AT 70 kg.
Pt is designing a programme, as itās not lifting weight, itās moving mass efficiently when your hr is 165 bpm.
Nice bench !
Is it things like āFarmers Walksā ? A great exercise but most modern gyms probably dont have a safe , big enough space
Farmers is in it
200m with a 28 ? kg kettle in each hand.
Station no 6 I think ?
We go up and down the prowler track
12m so 17 lengths or so, hopefully easier in long straights on the day ?! itās one of the easier / faster events and my grip strength seems quite good.
Doing it from fresh is no problem picking them up after nearly an hour flat out with your hr 165 plus is a f different story as you know
Hyrox is the latest thing on my FB feed from the GeeeeBeeee gang who moved on from tri. One girl āqualified for the Elite World Champsā bought herself a Union Flag top and everything why cant people just ādo somethingā anymore, or is this just certain āi culda bin a proā crowd attracted to AG tri.
It does look fun though
Iāve qualified outright ( duathlon) and roll down tri for team GB 3-4 times, people had to tell me twice as I had no idea two of the races weāre even qualifiers.
Two guys ( both ex bikers) who are now both tri coaches weāre going bananas at my disinterest in paying 200 quid for a tri suit with a flag on it !
Iām not Knocking anyone who has raced for there country but it never really appealed, the same as Kona ( for different reasons) to be honest.
IF I end up doing well in January I wonāt be going to Las Vegas or China or were ever WC are next year either.
Iām enjoying the training for it in what has been a very difficult year for me. I ve bern asked several times ā is this harder than triathlonā
You obviously know the answer to that one!
This.
Iāve recounted my arguments with the GB AG Team (as an active member).
Iād hate to think what they would be like if the majority were any good.
Iām an average to good triathlete.
Nothing special
Iām ancient now obviously, the amount of team GB kit Iāve usually run past ( some times bike) is untrue they werenāt all 60 year old ladies either.
Exactly the same. Iām an average-to-good swimmer and runner. Nothing more.
Compared to most on this forum, Iām VERY average.
The majority of the team are in the same boat, but act like they are Premier League footballers.
I often find the really fast people
Andy Wilkinson
Tom Rigby
Etc
Even dokas mate Sean Burke came second in some big time duathlon recently.
Are very very modest, almost embarrassed at there results, āstay humbleā is a huge phrase in boxing but it applies to any sport.
