Got the 945 now, but even during my MP training runs it was just showing average pace, as that’s really the only metric that counts.

I’m always looking at it and then as the miles tick over.

It will be the last 10km, as always, that will be the decider here

Best of luck @funkster, think you’ve got a great chance of sub 3 🏃‍♂️💪

Miles 0-13, just trotting along, should feel easy, stay relaxed
Miles 13-20, focus on maintaining pace, ramp up the effort a bit, stay in control
Miles 20-26, try and maintain pace, it’s going to hurt, but you trained for this bit
to 26.2 - whatever you’ve got left (kitchen sink mode)

Good luck funkster

Can we skip the 20-26 bit and go straight to the .2 bit

Hmm, would the entire back catalogue of AC/DC cover a 16h Ironman? I wonder what the last song would be.

GL run swift

Today’s the day. Do it big boy.

Looks like start times are 7-8am so I guess @funkster is now on the road, or about to be.

Didn’t want to jinx or apply pressure earlier, but is it OK now to have a crack at predict his finish time?

He has been 100% open about training and goal so hope he won’t mind.

I’ll start by saying training load, consistency and pace make me think he is definitely capable of sub 3 and I suspect low 2.50s would not be out of the question. Conditions look ideal today too. However he has made it clear he’s going to go out sensibly with sub3 in mind. Also from what I can tell is a bigger, strength runner rather than a pure whippet.

So I’m going to go with 2.58

Anyone else?

Yeah, he’s laser focused, so I think he’ll stick to his pace and do a 1:28:30 first half.
Then a 1:28:30 second half, or maybe a smidge quicker.

So 2:57 from me.

But, from his training paces, and cycling, on a flat course, I’d be going for a <2:50 or massive blow up :boom:
However, I think Funkster would like the confidence of a sub-3 in his pocket before going for the GWR in October.
So that’s probably the more sensible option :+1:t3:

Itom150 and Tupperware are also similar height and weight to Funkster and myself, and they’re absolutely rapid. :rabbit2::rabbit:

He started at 7:07. Can’t see any splits yet though!

Is it windy up there? (or down depending on your perspective)

Not too bad in SW, has rained overnight but stopped now & perfect running weather

That’s 2.56.15 pace if my maths correct. Nice
