Sub-4 Marathon

I’m sitting under the trees by the announcement sign if you fancy a chinwag, pretty sure I’m the only dude with a Kona VR cap :sunglasses:

Good luck you two! How’s the weather?

Sunny unfortunately, should be 15mph winds but it’s quite a light breeze now
16c rising to 19 predicted but looks like it’ll be hotter to me

Dorney 20 miles in 2.34.30

No taper, 14k yesterday with my parkrun PB. Race kit including Alphas and full nutrition.

Gives me the confidence to go for 3.30 and maybe try negative split.

Well done, 3:25 pace?

Somewhere between 3.20 and 3.30 which would be an amazing result and an approx. 30min PB

Nice one. I’ve only done a 20 miler once, it was the Bramley race (I might be entered for next year but I’ve lost track TBH). 2.54 was the best I could do.

Good work @Jgav! Imagine what a rest and a taper is going to do as well!

Get at it! :muscle:

Hoping that a taper means the last 10k aren’t such a slog.

I’m considering running the first half and 3.25 pace and try negative or even split it. If it goes like today I’d have enough confidence to finish it off.

Makes a change from before thinking that 3.30 might be a touch ambitious, before today I would have paced it at 3.40

My first 20 mile with a number on so another official PB. I’m sure given your mara time you could comfortably beat that now.

Yeah just trying to think. I’m sure it was 2019 and in Feb, where I’d just had a good Winchester 10k and it was about a month ahead of reading HM where I had a 1.38.

Bramley is pretty lumpy but i reckon I would be quicker (but I’m 2yrs older!)

Has Joex finished?

Nearly there

Is he on track for his goal?

Not sure

I’ve cycled to Brighton seafront.

I’ll look out for that Ironman visor and shout at him
