nothing clever like that , I usually just check watch every 200m after pushing off
I find it really useful for these long sets, you get instant feedback for each length. I set it for the time I want to achieve & then it’s a case of finding what makes the beep with the least effort which is usually the lowest amount of strokes too.
Sometimes it’s just not happening & you can bail early, sometimes it comes easy and you can up the pace when you know your going to make it.
Interesting - what sort do you use?
I use a Finis Tempo trainer but you can to set an alert on a Garmin watch also.
Edit:
Soon be Black Friday .
It has been for at least a fortnight for the usual suspects like Ribble, Huub and SCS
SCS have a sale on?
It’s been a while since I have done any proper swimming (for which read any swimming other than a brief few lengths on holiday)
Need to get me a new pair of them there google things as my pair snapped beyond repair on holiday
Any recommends for a pair?
Speedo Fastskin Hyper Elite are my go to but might be a bit fancy/pricy if not swimming too much. I hoping for a Black Friday deal for my next pair.
Looks like Black Friday has arrived already
goggle it…there are loads of options out there…

Said he got halfway through the 25s and didnt think he would last the session. The intensity is what will move him up a level though; sadly lacking at old club.
Not sure Id get through WU
Day 2 tomorrow!.
day 2’s main set involved 4 * broken 100 at 100 pace , 25m off 30, 50m off 1, 25m there were 3 to a lane, they went individually but got about 6-7mins rest between each 100
hard! he hit a 1:04 back and held 1:05 throughout so is quietly confident for the weekend
nice to see some swim coaches are not still in the 40 X 100 off 1:25 dark ages when the most many swim is 200m!
tonight is a mini break for club champs 100IM and 200Fly. I’ve been lumbered as starter “take your marks”
Starter, ended up the bloody assistant referee. Hard af at start but settled into it.
El Niño really fitting in already, everyone so friendly.
Did 1.08 for 1IM and 2.44 for 2fly not bad in training shorts, both good pbs. Think hes got a silver medal as well for fly, cleaning out the bling already
I have been rather quiet here for a while, which seems a shame about on a thread where I am in the title
People following me on Strava may have noticed something over the past 3 months: I am finally getting faster! Last week I even got promoted to the fast lane!!!
I used to read with a certain degree of envy when people posted about their sub 6m 400m times - I recently managed 6:15 and my most recent CSS assessment was 1:39/100m.
My swim is never going to be a weapon, however, I may get to a point where it is no longer a liability. It’s a little Ironic that my IM swan song will be at Nice next September
Nice work , look forward to seeing the progress.
Yes I had, and great stuff. Now the complete package…

Down to 31:10 this morning.
Splashed out (see what I did there) on a pair
No excuse not to get back in the pool now
Well I did what you said H. and it certainly seemed to help !
I went about 14.6 for 25 in the parents’ race, which was my “under 15 seconds” target. As I may have mentioned before I knew I wouldn’t win because one of the new parents (a V nice guy BTW, he’s from Poland and his son is quick for a 9 year old ! ) is an ex swimmer and 15 years younger than me ! He went about 13.1, which made me feel better actually because there’s no way I could do that now at 61 years old. Coincidentally that time, of 13.1, is my all time PB which I swam when I was 29 (I only took up swimming when I was 25) !
I didn’t feel too bad actually as winning just because the other competitors aren’t swimmers made me feel a bit of a fraud…
