I’ve put my chit in for 2022. No idea how many times I’ve entered the ballot. Never got in.

Someone in my tri club got in the first time trying and the second and got in to Ride London first attempt. Bastard.

Dear God! Glad that’s over

Felt OK until about mile 21. A few niggles here and there. and then both hamstrings were cramping up. Shuffled home. Happy with that though - reflects the amount of running I’ve been doing. Was under no illusions as to running anything remotely fast. Crowds were great. Tower Bridge particularly

Only an hour and a minute slower than my last London time in 2012 :confounded:

Has Funkster finished?

Yeah I think a touch over 5.

I bet his suit was a godsend pre run as it was a touch nippy. By about half way the sun came out. For me in a vest and short shorts it was warm! Must have been hell suited up

I can’t fathom ‘lots of walking’ with a 3.20! Bloody well done, detonation or not.

The last 5km were bloody awful. I think I had to pull up 3 or 4 times.

Managed to shake the cramps off and continue with the shuffling.

Power of the crowd and all that. Even though I wanted the ground to swallow me up you’ve still got people willing you on

I will probably give it a miss. I’m not fit enough i think to take it on.

Started off well and ticked off the first 3 miles in 8:03 pace.

Had to stop a couple of times as the leg wraps came undone.

Was using run:walk and all seemed well.

BBC stopped me at The Cutty Sark but weren’t ready so I was watching the average pace go up whilst I was stationary. Wished I stayed now.

Lower legs and feet detonated at about 10 miles and I couldn’t get onto my toes.

Decided then to set myself a goal.

1:54:03 for halfway - stopped stupidly before I saw the timing mat, but officially it was 1:52:49, which is an un-official GWR for HM Dressed as a Ninja

From then on it was a death shuffle with a bunch of walking.

Lots of support.

Did a Naruto run (ask your kids) across the line

I was listening to Radio Somerset driving today. They had an interview with a 81yr old lady who was running her 30th London Marathon!

One of the guys that ran (and finished) the North Coast 110 mile version on Fri/Sat hot footed it over to London and then finished the mara in 4.30!

The guy isn’t super fast but he’s bone fide flippin mental. And mentally tough!
