TCS London Marathon 2025

I thought back that long ago you were assured of a start after 5 rejections?

It was 5, then 8, then 10?, then they scrapped it.

oh I hadn’t realised that, bummer

I’m 2 from 2 with my ballot attempts (2002 and 2009).

Both years I only applied because Mrs W was applying and pressurised me into doing the same. Both years she didn’t get in and had gone off the idea by the time the ballot results came out  .

Mrs W finally got a place for 2011 (deferred to 2012 because of injury) in what I think was one of the last years of the guaranteed entry after 5 rejections.

I think the numbers stopped working for the guaranteed entry when they switched from a paper entry form to on-line and it became much easier for people to put in a speculative entry. The guaranteed entries would have taken up all of the ballot places

Rejection for me, can’t grumble though, been entering for the last 17 years, and managed 3 ballot entries and 1 charity place run

A friend got the rejection top and realised that they’d reused last years stock and just stuck a new logo over the top. Very cheap of them…

That takes the piss

:rofl::rofl::rofl:

What’s a rejection top?
Good to see them using old stock (instead of binning it) but I suspect the price was still high

If you donate your entrance fee if you don’t get in. They send you a top for commiserations.

Good to reuse but don’t cover up printing. That’s the issue more than anything. So make a good stockpile but only print what you need each year.

I had a massive disappointment because when adidas sponsored the majors they used the same colour and design across ALL races - majors plus key races elsewhere. I bought kit when I did Two Oceans in Cape Town, turned up to London marathon expo 3 weeks later and it was all the same kit

IM went through a stage of that for a couple of years in Oz. Cheap AF.

It looks like it’s going to be wet and windy for anyone racing on Sunday :open_mouth:

I see the 2023 race is returning to the usual April time slot

Ooh, ballot must be opening next week then?

I’ll throw my hat into that. Would quite like a spring marathon!

Ballot opens on Sunday.

I have my place for 2023. It’s been my entry since 2019 - deferred to injury and then carried on deferring thanks to Covid.

Only fifty squid, I might do the same.

Are there any TT’ers running?

I’m hoping to run it in April 23, have a GFA application in, 5 and a half mins inside the standard.

Good luck to anyone running SundY
