I’m going to be watching the wife and her Mum run it. I expect them to take 6-7 hours, so should give us (father-in-law & 2 kids under 5) a while to get to a few spots. Any recommendations for spots to stand any cheer, perhaps ones that are less crowded but easy to travel between?!
There is a DLR station around mile 15 and it’s also about mile 20 the GF used to go to, depends how long it takes to do the miles in between.
Might have been Westferry, somewhere around there.
And easy to get to the finish or back into town. Assuming the tube etc is running.
I had to defer to 2023 due to injury. At the time I was a bit gutted but given the train strikes and weather forecast am quite happy waiting until April.
Good luck to those heading to the start line in the morning
Have a look at mile 13 ish at Rotherhithe then get the Overground from Rotherhithe one stop to Wapping and you’re there for another two passes.
If it’s crowded you could always walk the Rotherhithe tunnel but it’s not a pleasant walk.
Ballot is open now!
I was due to run. Was hoping to break 2:30. Ran 54 minute 10 Mile End of august then the next Sunday DNF’d at mile 7 off a 20 with an ankle problem. Have barely run since. parkrun was sore this morning but planning for a break from marathons now for at least a year. Will focus on getting 32:xx 10k. Did think about entering Boston but it’s just too expensive!
Good luck to anyone running. Tell us your numbers so can get you in the tracker. I’m still down here watching some friends
Just entered the ballot.
Hopefully its 7th time lucky
The lady I was Tail Walking at Parkrun today with was obviously a very handy runner. She earned a full track and field scholarship to a uni in Florida.
Her mother is 71 and running the virtual London Marathon tomorrow and going for GFA sub 6hrs and the lady I was with is pacing her Mum. I think last year she missed it by 2mins, so
How cool is that? Pacing your 71yr old Mum in a marathon
Don’t you live just up the road from Boston
Thinking about volunteering at the water station tomorrow but I’m not sure I will be able to get back in time for my dad duties just before lunch. My club has mile 4 in Woolwich, I’d probably have to find some back streets out further along the Thames before looping back towards home if I cycled.
Or will the trains be functioning well from Woolwich Arsenal?
I wouldn’t be relying on the trains tomorrow, surely they will mopping up the knock on effects of today?
Yeah, even if they are functioning I’d have to get the 10:39 back - does the race start at 9?
There’s a lot of uncertainty about the roads as well, don’t know how I can plan a bike route. If I did I could probably stay until 11.
Trapped In My Water Station, almost.
Even two hours is too far to travel to see the famous cabbage fields
Doesn’t the mass start and elite mens race usually start at 9:45?
ETA - 8:50 for wheelchair race, 9:00 for elite women and 9:40 for everyone else
Stuck a ballot entry in. Was planning on the MK Marathon which is the weekend after so will do one or the other.
Probably the MK one as this must be the 7th or 8th London ballot I’ve entered and never got a place.
I’m here spectating as well, Achilles issues scuppered any prospect of running (serious FOMO). Traffic was I assume because of trains, or maybe just…London!
Good luck to any racers!
Yeah I think it’s a bit hopeful so I’ll skip helping but Il be spectating around Charing Cross area in the early afternoon if anyone is about.
Massive turn around in the whether forecast, it was supposed to be soaking wet all day, so packing light the kids only have wellies. Now it’s looking like no chance of rain and we’ll probably need sun cream!
The forecast says no rain now but the view out of the window says different at the moment
Raining in Winchester but watching it on BBC2 it looks better there.
