TCS London Marathon 2025

That recommendation came from an interview I once heard with Chrissie Wellington. If you can stomach it then it’s great as you can travel with it to races and you just need a can opener and a spoon.

I love rice pudding cold pre race, during a race, post race it’s all good. never had it during a marathon though.

Loved the report. Good luck with the 2024 GFA!

Great read! Thanks! Your photos are considerably less crowded than mine - both in terms of supporters and other runners. I think I was in the middle of peak madness the whole way round.

It did feel pretty busy - certainly during the first 10 miles but yes, the photos do make it look much more pleasant. It was OK later on but I did think early on it was very very busy.

Great report.

I couldn’t get over how many people had their phones out for so much of the race. I know it’s all for the insta and those people weren’t going for times but it seemed odd and a little dangerous at times. I also saw a few people dropping their phones which sort of made me chuckle.

My photos aren’t bad. That facial recognition tech is pretty cool, it’s round various ones that I’m half in.

It was very busy at my time of running too @awildt - when the start lines merge it was absolutely mental.

They’ve got a few close up ones of just me coming into the finish with the flags and palace out of focus in the background which are cool. Will need to do the usual and get one printed and put in a frame with my number and medal as a wee momento.

The kids got me this today which was cute.

That’s more than cute - it’s amazing. I love it.

It’s definitely preferable to one using an actual photo of my red sweaty face plodding round at 18 miles stuck on the side

This must be I dont know 10th or 11th.

Guy in my tri club got in first go, then again a couple of years later, and also got into Ride London on the first attempt.

I got in 2011 after 4 or 5 attempts. It was still 6 and in then anyway. Every year since i was “unlucky” and finally got into Oct 2022, but defered and missed it last week also. Gutted as i might be retired the next chance i get.

Can’t be bothered. I was crap anyway in ‘21. In ‘12 I had a gfa spot. The atmosphere is great but travel etc on race day partic is such a faff.

I’ve entered I think 5 times? Once when I was 18 and I deferred it a year but never ran - was a student lol - 2 ballot rejections. One ballot acceptance and one GFA spot

Oh fuck it - I’ve entered again

I’m 2 from 2 on my ballot attempts .

Both times I only entered because Mrs W entered and thought it would be “nice” to train for it together. Both times she didn’t get in

Finally got the photos sorted. This is the contrast in numbers on the road when us slightly slower bunch goes through. I don’t remember the running being particularly difficult, it was the crowd noise that’s a bit overwhelming.
