TCS London Marathon 2025

Not sure if you still can, but you used to be able to defer right up to the day before the race :man_shrugging:

Going to take my 3 year old to watch, looking forward to it. Should be a fun day out as it incorporates riding on some trains and some elite sport :-).

Plan to get the DLR out to Crossharbor and catch the elites and sub 2:30 runners there as it’s pretty quiet and at 17 miles is quite an interesting place to watch to try and gauge how folks are feeling.

That’s a shame mate, hope you can get in again.

Thanks. To be honest I’ve been really down about it, and so hadn’t even looked at deferrring as assumed it was too late. Thanks to you guys I’ve just logged on and deferred, so hopefully that works :+1:

Yes, always used to be the day before the race as a cutoff for deferring.

Yes you can still defer until Saturday.

I’m running after some issues at the start of the year I figured may as well give it a go as I’m not injured and can’t defer my place :grinning:

Good luck to the runners!

EDIT: Too late - glad you got it sorted @SwanseaRed

So, you could go collect your number from the expo. Then defer that afternoon. Then run the marathon (but don’t wear your timing chip). Get a medal, buy the race photos and then run it again the following year with your deferred place.

Then again, maybe they do some sort of automated race photo check against numbers that were collected from the expo but deferred. So in that case doctor your number.

You should be crushing it with all the training :muscle:

Or have a place for 2019, defer to 2020 because of injury, then let the world go mad and finally run it in 2023. Longest training plan in history :joy::joy::joy:

Paging TRO for his Kona deferral training plan here, think he’s going to be in a second age group :joy:

I assume once you collect your pack, the deferral link is disabled.

You can still request a defer (I just checked), but maybe there is a check that I already picked up my number if I was to proceed :man_shrugging:

Originally pencilled in Kona 2020, maybe get to do it this year.

At expo, registered, all good. Beasted myself in Mallorca until Tues, flew back Wednesday 2 day taper……what could possibly go wrong…:rofl::rofl::rofl:

Work colleague of mine is running on Sunday. I’ve mentioned him before. DL nearly 3 times his own body weight, and ran 3.05 at Manchester last year. He’s aiming for sub 3, and has even reduced his strength training this time in preparation.
Looking at his training I think he’ll do it with time to spare.

Ballot open for 2025

Entered along with Mrs T, son and his gf.

Already anticipating the usual rejection

On a completely rammed train with the 3 kids to the big smoke. Looks like I’ll be standing the whole way (thankfully the rest got seats). Going to meet their new cousin today and then watch the marathon tomorrow. Hopefully get the 2 eldest to a junior parkrun tomorrow morning.

Not sure why this seemed like a good idea :man_shrugging:

Ballot entered….

Daughter also entered for a potential (but highly unlikely) full house

Anyone take up the double your chances entry for a not so small fee?

I passed took my chance with the free version

Mrs T in charge of entries

She never mentioned a fee

She is desperate to get in though (sixth time in the ballot with no luck)

You got me worried now :grimacing:
