I think that was a bad move. He tried to go for a gap that wasnt there. WvA did not change his line. Sagan just forced himself through. He’s lucky WvA was accommodating. If it had been a Cav type character, they’d have just gone “no you dont”, and Sagan would have ended up in pieces along the barrier.
It was all his own fault, and cost WvA a higher finish. I’d relegate him.

WvA went too early imho.
I think wva probably knew he didn’t have the out and out sprint of the others, so just gave it a go from further out hoping to catch them out/they get caught up behind. But what do I know!

Although today does look like a parcours that’d suit Sagan.
It’d also suit him and his team to annihilate all of the other sprint teams way before the end.
It’s a very interesting stage today, especially with the three coming up (although, I would not class Saturday’s stage as “flat”!)
I’m going with Alaphillipe for today, having Sagan in my team.
Cosnefroy will also want to sweep up today’s points for the polka dot jersey.
Greg van Avermaert and de Gendt could also be good shouts.
