Just looking at future changes, due to Yates falling of the face of the earth…and me not initially selecting Roglic, as he wants to remain anonymous…but now might be worth the “free” yellow jersey points?
Cees Bol is exceptional value at just 10* credits
Problem is - keep Alaphillipe for the occasional stage win? Or keep Pogacar for the white jersey?
Although, Bernal is good for the 2nd GC and 1st in white? that’s 65pts per day…whereas Pogacar is picking up 66pts (currently in 26 yellow, 18 white, 6 green and 12 polka dots)
Bernal also looks good for some stage wins now, not so sure on Pogacar?
Even for 2nd place, to Roglic, Bernal would get 300 stage, 45 GC, 20 youth…hmmm???
Currently, Pogacar is scoring more per day than Bernal, not sure how much longer that can go on for?
Sniff…off sick with a bastard of a cold today so enjoying shaking up my team. Only thing is i really should have read the rules more closely as my strategy was bolloxed the moment I tried to put in more than 3 “leaders.” Computer says no. Oh well, back to the drawing board.
I got a bit lucky with Cosnefroy, Pogacar and Hirshi (why do they pronounce his name as “he-or-she?”)
Some good points from all of them in the minor jersey competitions.
Roche hasn’t borne any fruit for me, though
I always remember him as a bit of a hilly breakaway rider, so thought he’d be a bit higher in the polka dot placings and get some more mountain points…problem with that is he’s a bit older now, so might have lost something and also may have to do some work for Hirshi at times - oh well!
Sagan definitely looked better yesterday, so hoping to see something from him today.
The course really does suit him and Alaphillipe.
Ewan has been shite for me, but I can see him winning on the Champs-Elyssees, so might keep him yet…
…I think Roglic will win overall, but think Bernal has more chance of getting a few stages on his way to 2nd place and I think the points Bernal will pick up in the other jersey competitions make him more worthwhile.
Also, remember Pogacar will win the time trial.
He beat Roglic in the Slovenian national champs a week after losing to him in the road race.
It is also his best opportunity to get some bonus seconds back…
…which he may also have a crack at today and tomorrow, seeing as Saturday’s stage is a fairly mundane affair before Sunday’s monster.
It all really depends on how Bora-Hansgrohe treat today…
…whatever happens, this year has been brilliant so far.
