The 2020 weigh-in thread

Realised I hadn’t posted here for a few weeks, probably because I’ve been a bit peeved about the way things have been going lately.
28 Sep - 96.7kg
3 hour training week
5 Oct - 97.5kg
6 hour training week
12 Oct - 98.5kg
11 hour training week
19 Oct - 99.7kg
9 hour training week
26 Oct - 98.5kg
Last week was a real shock and a bit demoralising after the biggest week of training I’ve done for ages, including my hardest ride on Sunday with 1000m of climbing in 60km. (Not much fun at 100kg)
Relieved to see weight go back down a bit this week, now to try and stick around that 8-10 hour figure consistently.

89KG yesterday morning pre-ride.

Happy with slow progress and small goals, the long term goal of 70KG is too much to contemplate in one bite.

87.5 this morning, did see 86.9 on Friday. I seem to be slowly heading in the right direction, so maybe the 16:8 is having some effect?

Think I’m going to treat lockdown 2.0 different from 1.0.

Think for 1.0 my essential mindset was very negative, thinking there was no bloody point in watching my weight for events that clearly weren’t going to happen…

For 2.0 I’m going to try a reset. 16:8, no booze. Try and come out of the 27 days down on my weight and up on my fitness…

I’m seeing it as my personal lockdown challenge. And maybe the start of something bigger (smaller!).

Just need to man up and jump on the scales on Thursday morning…(or as it starts Thursday midnight, maybe Wednesday morning…).

Anybody else of a similar mindset?

Having said all that, I’m currently waiting for a takeaway!!:joy:

Yes, kept pretty disciplined with my diet during the first lockdown and it all went pot, around the beginning of August. Pretty understandable with the lockdown easing and more cafe rides etc. Going to try to get my focus back with my eating and help get my w/kg back up.

I’d settle for getting my weight back to what it says on Zwift. Damn Avatar, always showing me up! :joy:

01/11/20 – 13 st 2.8 lbs / 83.8 kg – 5.6 lb increase in the month. :frowning:

Back over 13 stone for first time since June.

Excuses:

  • Rear molar removed, face swollen, on pain killers for days, jaw still aches.
  • Banged my (bald) head at home so hard I almost knocked myself out.
  • Been fighting a cold with sugar (Lemsip, lucazade & lockets).
  • Lack of exercise due to all of the above.
  • Comfort eating chocolate to make up for lack of exercise.

Hoping to do better in November despite the pool closing again for Lockdown II.

Cheers, Paul.

Another taking a revised approach to lockdown 2.0. Worked out from a pretty decent weight in early March I put on a kg a month through to July.

Suddenly races were on and I was heavy although fit.

Started to get a grip in October, and have things trending down again. The old mindset reared up again on Saturday when lockdown 2.0 was announced but I’ve got on top of it again.

Mission is to drop 0.5kg/month this time. I feel more fired up, partly because I can still convince myself (at the moment) that most stuff I’m training for in 2021 will happen.

Just shame-weighed myself. Put 4.2kg on since I did my ankle 4 weeks ago. 93.6kg

Out tomorrow morning on the bike for the first sbr since then. Muscle has been added through the gym sessions but a lot of belly fat.

Back in the game now I can train again.

81kg a month after IM so its time to start keeping an eye on it again.

The boy wants to do Stronglifts again so thatll keep me honest.

I need to get off the booze too, Im drinking (a small amount) nearly every day now and Lockdown will encourage that.

81kg

That’s 10kg heavier than when I did my 70.3 2 years ago. Is it any wonder my fitness is so poor?

Back to 88kg this morning. I really have to concentrate in intake. I’m in the fit but fat category at the moment and could be moving so much faster.

Urgh. 91.5 this morning; need to get back on exercising and watching what I eat. After riding with a mate yesterday I feel like I’ve got motivation back again today, so that’s nice.

This graph makes me a bit sad; lockdown 1 was good for my waistline, then the wheels fell off a bit in the last 5 weeks or so. Even in the weeks where there has been a decent amount of training there’s also been an inappropriate amount of beer and deliveroo.

Edited to add the graph I referenced, but didn’t add…

Nice data, and nice progress, the overall trend is down, there will always be blips in the data.

Yeah, I just need to be paying attention to it, maybe to to the somewhat extreme level I was in April - June, but I’m a bit conscious that the trend since early October has been upwards (apart from my one magic light day last week, zero clue how that happened!)

Argh 82.4 two weeks later. I am just so hungry, and lunch, dinner are all over the place.

65.8kg this morning. Started commuting a couple of weeks ago after a few months off, which is worth an extra 500 cals a day so that probably explains where it’s going. Bike power is coming up so it’s all good. :+1:

I’m 2 weeks into 4 weeks off the booze. Given that i’d had a drink most days since the first lockdown began, i decided this should be a dry lockdown. I’m training every day, alternating strength training and running. My weight just sits stubbornly at 67kg. I guess this is a good thing as i do seem to be toning up to a point, although my sweet tooth doesnt do me any favours here. A proper boidyfat analysis might be useful though.
My wife just bought me the Brewdog Advent Calendar so if i havent got a ripped six-pack by the end of lockdown then thats it… looking forward to the beers though  :beers:

71.2 this morning.

Trying to spend winter 20/21 at about 72 kg, then drop in the spring.

Yesterday’s long run was at 72+ and went well, hope for faster next year.

Better week’s training and tried to watch diet a bit more too, including no alcohol.
98.6kg from 99.5kg last week is the result.
I ran 3 times last week (only 2x5km and an 11km) but I do wonder if running gives me more stimulus for weight loss as it’s the thing I’ve been skipping lately when the weight has been creeping up.
