The 2020 weigh-in thread

My last (declared) weigh in on 01/11/20 was bad enough, but it got worse.

Start of Lockdown 2 - 05/11/20 – 13 st 4.6 lbs / 84.6 kg.

So, I’d put on 7.4 lb since 01/10/20 which was pretty soul destroying.

The good news is this was just the harsh reality check I needed.

Solution:
. Increase exercise, easy given how little I did in October.
. Increase intake of ‘good’ food, made three slow cooked stews (that last me days).
. Decrease the comfort eating of crisps and chocolate by 95%.
. A 100% decrease in alcohol, not a single beer or glass of wine. :astonished:

Result:
01/12/20 – 12 st 11.4 lbs / 81.4 kg
A 7.2 lb / 3.3 kg loss during Lockdown 2. :sunglasses:

Christmas is always a challenge / damage limitation month, so fingers crossed.

Cheers, Paul.

So much for my return to training.

Only myself to blame, but +1kg in a week?! Really?

But the Bud Light says Light, so it’s got to make you light. Right?

Zwift weights. What to put? I have weighed myself at various times this month and have seen a range of values from 67.6kg (was after exercise) to 69.4kg well hydrated and fed before exercise.

So obviously I have gone with 57 kg on Zwift.

No not really, Zwift says 68kg but should I say 69 might be fairer because probably i’m starting most races closer to 69 than 68??

(Yes I know, first world problem)

Put the scales next to the bike, weigh as you get on

Change it each race?

If it changes that much each day, yeah. Even as I’m gaining I tend to settle for a few days at least.

BTW I only updated my Zwift weight today, I’m no saint.

I suppose that’s the fairest way. Might do that thanks :+1:

who cares … it’s just a game. It’s not like you’re taking like 10kgs off. It’s a couple of percent at most.

Just ride the bike, enjoy it and smash everyone out the park at Lanza next year!

You’ll probably find that your pre-exercise weight is far more consistent anyway

Haha yes there is always that :slightly_smiling_face:

Stumbled across this today, Im not fan of calories in principle but hard to argue with these stats:

Theoretically Ive stopped eating gels, energy drinks and protein shakes though.

Not your point, as both months were higher, but the difference between september and august is stunning - you were working seriously hard in august?

10 kcals per minute is a serious lot of effort at 83kg, getting close to threshold in cycling, but you’re averaging it for 82 minutes! You just need to find that hard work motivation again!

Yeah I wouldnt stand by those numbers as Ive never looked at those totals before - September hours are way off, but there are no duplicate workouts…August hours do match my spreadsheet though.

Virtually all my workouts are indoors, which would skew rate of energy used on the bike.

Heres a random example, energy is from power meter so quite reliable, I think. I run an apple watch workout at the same time, whichnis the stats youre seeing, and they seem to underestimate calories.

August was my switch from bike focus to full on Ironman training and bringing back swimming though.

But youre right, I need to get back in training which I am. Weekly hours should be up to 7-8 this week.

74kg. I’ve been steadily putting on weight over the last 4 weeks. Lots of chocolate at work and ticking over with 4-6 hrs exercise a week, so understandable Going to try to gradually take 2kgs off in the next 6 weeks.

99.5kg this morning, with Xmas & New Year still to come, a 100kg+ start to 2021 looks likely.
Got down to 92kg during first lockdown but been creeping back up since August.
