The 4w/kg thread

There’s a lot of those guys… funnily enough often lightweights! We had two guys from one of my old clubs go on to ride Pro Conti.

Just about back in the club, at 4.01w/kg, after my ftp test this morning. A modest 7w increase, but moving in the right direction. My weight’s plateaued a bit, as I’m back at home on holiday. Would like to lose another kg before my first Sporting tt in a couple of weeks.

With that power, you would do amazing well on Zwift TT’s

I am doing the reverse, got a rowing machine and currently smashing out fast 10km times. Friend of mine recons I can do well in the local rowing club Ergo challenge. Indoor rowing certainly hurts

Have decided to make this a target for me - hopefully by the end of the year. Current FTP is 260W and about 76kg so 3.4w/kg. Plan to reach 300w and 75kg. So I basically will be on the turbo every morning at a steady <75%ftp for up to 90min with 2 hard interval sessions a week with each containing 100%ftp efforts. Any outdoor sessions will be bonus sessions at an easy effort

@hillwall , are you on Zwift?

If so how about join the team time trial next time we get our act together?

There’s a bunch of us hovering around that level, and the TTT keeps the teeth gritted as well as being “type 2 fun” allegedly

Yes, I am on Zwift. Not really done any Zwift racing myself - partially because I am limited on time and try to get my training in before the kids wake up so get up at 5am every day so I can do my session and finish before 7am. So don’t really know how racing works, but I’m sure I can figure it out.

I think if I’ve got some planned session I can spare some time during the day/evening for something.

+1 on @fruit_thief’s suggestion. My block of focussed sets were essentially over unders rather than steady efforts and racing TT and iTT on Zwift moved me from 3.8WKG to 4.5WKG oh and dropping 2kg

Have a look at the EVO rides. Vortex starts at 5.30 am every weekday about an hour of varied intervals. Good group, social interaction average about 3.5 W/kg for the duration with some overs/sprints.

First FTP test since the one above (03/03/21) so after nearly 3yrs I was probably overdue  .

Disappointingly I definitely underperformed during the 5min test - probably because I was conscious of the 20min coming up - but 20min & FTP was pretty much the same.

Will have to wait until I get home & weigh myself to see if my post-Christmas timber is going to see me chucked out of the 4W/Kg club :grimacing: .

Beast!

I’d love to get here by the spring… even if I have to use the ramp test to cheat my way there!

Pretty much the same weight as 3yrs ago.

Still in the club :grinning:.

ETA …(@JaRok2300 do you still use your Kinetic turbo? I did the above test with my Assioma Uno pedal of power & measured with my Wahoo head unit but also measured results from my Kinetic on a Garmin. The Kinetic gave me an FTP of 287W, so pretty similar)
