Chelsea flower show report
- if you are going to go, go early (opens at 8) to avoid the worst of the crowds which we did
- Spent as much time celebrity spotting as we did looking for displays- all of the Gardeners World lot - recognised them but could name most of them as rarely watch it - no Monty Don though which was a bit disappointing. Plus Davina McCall and Dame Mary Berry
- the displays were amazing - would love to have them in my garden except I have no skills on that front or time to do it
- It was roasting hot but plenty of places to refill water bottles
- Got stung for some new garden furniture (fair enough as ours is about 25 years old and is rubbish
- We felt we had done enough by about 1.30
- All in all not my usual cup of tea but enjoyed it

My staff ID and access card is 26 in September as we put the date on the early ones, older than most of our students and has done more service than most staff

Chelsea Flower Show is on the list of “things to do before we leave London”.
We live close enough that we could walk there.
We always talked about taking my parents there because they were mad keen on their gardening, but they weren’t so keen on London and then my dad wasn’t so mobile.

I did something nifty with AI the other day that greatly helped the team.
One of my reports (who is 42) said, ’ I’m proud of you Ian, even old people can learn new stuff’ 
She’s leaving my team on June 1st. The two events are not related

Mum and dad went to the Harrogate flower show every year for about 15 years.
Mum always found something that they “needed” to buy for their garden

I’m proud to say that I wouldn’t know where to start with ChatGPT.
My former boss (for 2 months until she failed her probation and I got her job ) was 63 and used ChatGPT for everything, usually because she didn’t know what she was doing 
That may have been a big factor in her losing her job

I found out yesterday from two different people that there’s a really impressive floral display that all the shops along the King’s Road get involved in, which is well worth a visit in its own right.

Over the years we’ve done Chelsea, Hampton Court, Harrogate, Tatton Park and Malvern shows. Wouldn’t bother now as they got busier and busier and frankly nothing changes that much.

Never been interested myself, just don’t have green fingers - I can cut stuff down and that’s about it!

Aren’t all those lifestyle shows just the equivalent of a giant live JML advert? Not sure (and don’t care) what JML actually stands for, but I always tell my kids it is Junk Made for Losers. Same as in the MTB world, anything made by RST stands for Really Sh#t Technology.
