He definitely looks like he’s been holed up in the Ecuadorian embassy for a couple of years

That’s not true at all.

Maybe 99% of your life is a joke to us :joy:

Number 1 setting on the clippers solves the grey and thinning issue I find

I’m fairly lucky that I’m not really thinning, the grey is mostly on the sides as well.

But I can’t get a haircut for love nor money atm :man_shrugging:t2:

if he starts saying things like gigawatts and flux capacitor, we’ll suspect a big secret is about to be revealed….

By my calculation this could be of interest to those of us younger than 52.

TBH I see the state pension as something that’ll supplement my occupational pension when the time comes, rather than a significant portion of my retirement income.

I wouldn’t want to end up in the position where the state pension was my sole source of income in my old age.

It’ll be a significant supplement for me.

But if you p155 all your money away on booze, holiday etc. instead of saving it in private pensions, then you can get pension credit, housing benefit, etc. etc. that you won’t get if you are prudent.

I’m fairly sure my pension age has been increased and it’s likely to be 67 years & 1 month as I missed the boat by about 9 weeks. Now not sure if that has definitely been confirmed. It’s another 15 years though yet.

And as above it’s going to be the icing rather than the cake.

Old person rant/comment/god knows what - I really wish I hadn’t booked tickets for Squeeze/Madness tonight, it’s a royal PITA to get to Brum and I’ll be tired during the gig after an awful day today and tired tomorrow because of it.

Part of me thinks what the hell the ££ is spent whether we go or not and part of me knows it’ll be worth it once it gets going. Only hope they don’t wait ages between the two sets trying to build excitement, we’ll all be too old and just want it to be done with I’d imagine.

And as for people wearing masks all night - good luck with that

Friday night gigs after a week of work are getting difficult now

Definitely found in the last few days that being away from the stress of work and extra sleep and recovery that I can tolerate more training.

Bit tired now after a long day but I’ve also done some gym sessions this week, albeit fairly light weights.

Took me a day or two to get over work last weekend though, was totally fried on Saturday after a long year. Hopefully my race holidays come off next year, it’s the mental break that helps even if I’m doing more exercise like racing or just walking around cities.

Need to make sure I don’t go too daft and aggravate anything now though, overtraining

Found this poignant at the moment.

Daf Belt is still doing 70.3’s in her 80’s! Sadly I’m not from that gene pool :frowning:

But I was talking to a friend at work a year or so ago and although partly influenced by us both turning 50 we agreed that it certainly wasn’t the 50 when our parents turned 50. Possibly because a lot of people probably had harder lives from working in heavy industry etc. in the past, amongst other things?

I think it’s well proven that generally investing in your health will improve your healthspan, there’s always going to be exceptions unfortunately though.
