FIT sample today. Only 51 but had some odd symptoms so playing it safe.
I’d be happy if I never have to do that again… :joy:

FIT test clear. Which obviously is a relief.

Doctor is currently thinking Gall Stones as our next best guess. More bloods and a scan. Also testing for Coeliac disease…

I’ve had gallstones, some of the most acute pain I’ve experienced. Did get a ride in an ambulance with twos and blues going!

Sweet. Look forward to that then… :joy:

The pain is currently mild, but it’s in the right area.

Be glad, some parts of UK offer routine camera screening at 50 instead of FIT test.

Also yes I’ve accidentally clicked into this thread. The last post I’d read was @fatpom in November talking about 14d plans.
Did you do that?

I think it’s a good idea and not just for the over 50s to help recovery. I don’t think physiologically I need some things (such as a long run) every 7 days, and so comparing blocks over 14d can make things easier. Especially for Tri fitting in different aspects, and working shifts means I might do one week with a big Monday and sunday making it look massive and the next week inconsistent.

I’d advocate custom blocks, and have thought trying to track over 10 days etc, but then even for me the convenience of 7 (or 14) just seems to be easier, nevermind a Mon-Fri worker.

I do 14 days as I am unable to fit most stuff into a week, possibly like most of us working full-time.

Also at 10 months under the next landmark birthday, it really helps with recovery.

I kind of did, although it was punctuated by three weekends of DIY getting in the way as well.
I decided that I would enter at least a50km race on a monthly basis and generally fill the gaps in between. I did struggle with some runs on my own that were longer than 3hrs in the depth of winter. I was also thrown off kilter a bit by too-ing and fro-ing on whether to do IM Wales or not. (I’m not).

So i tend to just fill in the gaps between races, which is an expensive way to train but so far has worked, no DNFs. Ironically, I’m meant to be running a 50km race today but my calf has been tight for about 10days, so nursing that in order to be fit for Classic Quarter on May 20, so one DNS!

Doing more turbo than I was also.

I do 10 days as it fits my shift pattern ( 4 on 6 off. ) there’s no way I could get everything into 7 days unless I did double training days.

@Adam has just mentioned 2 week plans then recovery on another thread, mostly to help with his hectic life!

I do remember reading once that 2 weeks on , 1 easy was probably better for older athletes at least for the extra recovery. Probably for people with busy lives or changing work patterns.

I also agree with the comment about not having a long run every 7 days, maybe a stagger, long, medium, and shorter on the off week. But build them up in the next period?

Having said that I’m usually too disorganised to actually put this into practice

Wasn’t that 2 sharks, a crocodile and a funeral?

A mate who has moved up to M50 this year ran 1:24:59 at Marbella 70.3 today, fastest run split in the A\G but only 5th in the A\G overall. M50 winner was third age grouper and barely a minute behind Nikki Bartlett!

There’s some fast old blokes about!

Sat in the waiting room about to have my bloods taken for my first V50+ mot.

Everyone on their phones - :raising_hand_man::smile: - I miss the days of taking books along for a bit of a read while waiting.
