The Pain Cave & Shed Awards

:joy:

Okay…so I went to Tesco this morning, and nipped into B&Q next door for a worktop…but the timber cutting service was closed.
Shit!
Quick thinking and I got a pine 18mm 2400mm 400mm board to cut myself.
All of the batons were ones I already had from removing stair gates, any additional ones were from the offcuts Salvation Army bin outside B&Q.

Total Cost: under £30 (it needs painting and a curtain to hide the cables/mess underneath)

I also need a laptop shelf, but I have loads of wood leftover and about a dozen brackets spare.

Anyway…here she is…

Looks good mate :+1:

Is that fan big enough though?

Now you just need to actually use it, with all this diy malarkey going on!

Oh! It’s not going to be used
I’ve that hole in the ceiling to fix first, then the worktops need painting, as do the walls.

It’s got my bikes out of the utility room in the basement, so my wife is pleased :man_shrugging:t4::roll_eyes:

It’s a fab little training den, but the above is surely key?! That’s going to become one hell of a sweat box. I imagine you’d need some kind of dehumidifier as well otherwise that could start to go pretty horrid!

Cheers

There’s a window to the left, just behind me, and yes, there is a dehumidifier down there, too.

I’ve got some drawer runners coming from Amazon to make a slide out shelf for the laptop, as there’s not enough room on the worktop, trying to get it all set up before giving it a test run!

Ah, that definitely helps!

This is what I want

Industrial “Clarke” fan from Machine Mart

I’m looking for a cheap replacement fan for my pain cave. The one I have, pedestal fan, the clip/bracket thing broke and it now just mostly blows my calves. Unless anyone knows if those things are replaceable?

uh oh…got round to making a laptop shelf and actually checking the power, etc…

…all seems to work, apart from the missing ANT+ dongle for the turbo :frowning:

Got me a shower curtain to hide the mess.
Mess of cables and a “charging” station on a shelf underneath.
Then with the tray slid out and fully setup ready to go…

I know you like to hide the mess, but that shower curtain would just annoy me after a while. I’m all for the industrial functional look, if it doesn’t need to be there, get rid.

Yeah I agree. Unless the other household members complain, surely it’s only you that has to look at it?

Yeah - I’m debating it now :see_no_evil:
It’d be better on a net curtain cord, so I could “draw” it back when needed.

I just don’t like looking at the wires

Get a Union Flag…or an M Dot flag.
