All the more reason!
So, without scouring the whole thread, who has the most ‘CEO’ indoor set-up?
Turbo newly set up in wife’s music cave/ front room. I am still pinching myself that she said yes. The deciding factor was our 16 year old son is using Strava for home school PE lessons, they have a league table and everything. Think once lockdown over its days are severely limited though and back to the draughty/leaky attic
Had a screen die, so little upgrade.
Dual 32” inch screens now.
Bottom one can display TV/Netflix and Zwift
Great pic!
I remember my one and only visit, arrived the day before and was just in awe, looking at the cliffs and wondering where exactly the road went.
Got genuine goosebumps riding up it.
Same. Amazing mountain.
One summer when the kids were tiny we camped right at the bottom in TDF week. I think it was 2004 or maybe 2005. It was the year there was a time trial up the Alpe.
Sat on the side of the road near the 1st hairpin watching Jan Ullrich and Lance ride up, veins popping out of their legs and everything
Actually, out of all the Euro climbing I’ve done, I dislike AdH the most. I’ve ridden up twice and raced up it once. The constant noise of small trucks, buzzy cars and various motos whizzing up and down got on my tits.
Also when you get to the top, it’s tacky AF, like an Alpine version of Weston-Super-Mare.
If I never went back there, I wouldn’t lose any sleep. I like the quiet that just about all of the other big cols offer over that one but that’s just me I guess.
That’s why Swissman is the only race that appeals these days.
Definitely a humble brag cave
As in IT IS HUGE and appears to be second living room?
“Oh, this old cello?”
Wasn’t Fruit Thief a GP
Like a poor dentist?
LOL It is true that the house is big but it is also old, leaky, single glazed, terraced, literally falling down in places, road fronting, built before cars where a thing so no garage or parking… Could go on.
Wife’s a music teacher so those are tools of trade & therefore exempt from brag tax
Best thing about new location of turbo is wi-fi. No wifi in attic and so no Zwift. It’s 1000000 times more appealing to hop on the turbo now
Like what we’ve just bought
We’ve got one tiny space out front, previous tenant had a Fiat 500 that fit lovely on it!
Anyway, you’ve got a barn, haven’t you?
Never mind repointing it, get that done up and turned into a Wattage Cottage
do you have power in the loft?
I bought a simple power line adaptor (40 odd quid) to get wifi in the shed and it’s transformed things for me. Not only can i now zwift in the shed, i’ve also been working down there whilst the kids play in the garden! Handy to get wifi in the garden as well to play music and stuff.
Hasn’t missed a beat since i got it at the start of lockdown.
Interesting, I never felt that and have ridden up it maybe 15 times over the years. Best thing is that in July at least there are loads of cyclists to pace off or ride with or chat to.
Not ridden anywhere else much in the Alps so no point of reference. Matt Spooners Swiss climbs look great to me
Sounds like most privately owned stately homes these days.
…and you’ve ridden Alpe d’Huez 15x; what next, you stayed on Necker Island once?
Haha not yet but once spent the afternoon at Barry Island
