The Pain Cave & Shed Awards

I think it’s the stark contrast between that climb and the others in terms of commercialism etc.

As for Matt’s climb, check this out. I’d love to do this.

When you’re camping at the bottom of it for a week you can do it every day, no problems, that’s 7 times ticked off. Then enter the Tri once or twice, couple of warm up rides to get back in the groove

Anyway I reckon you should run it with a 30kg bergen Jorgan, get the legs ready for whenever they finally open Pen y Fab to outsiders

Yep in and of itself it’s got nothing over the other climbs, but it’s one I’d seen so many times on TV - that was what really made it.

Plus I went up at like 8am and it was dead quiet - no traffic to speak of. Great memories. I didn’t hang around at the top, it was freezing and I was still seeing spots from the climb.

That brings back painful memories! Stayed in Andermat for a week of cycling a few years ago and so had to tackle this on the way home on a few of the days! Amazing climbing!

Andermatt is a great place for claiming big peaks in the Bernese Alps, Susten, Furker, Gottard, Grimsel, all over 2000m

That Furker Pass sounds particularly challenging

Wasn’t the Furker Pass the one in Carry On up the Khyber…Devils in skirts!

I thought that was Snowdon?

Did all of these - great week in the mountains. Definitely nowhere near fit (or light) enough to consider anything similar to this, but would love to go back at some point

Forgot to post a picture after we moved. Love the amount of space we have (though I do need to fit a sofa bed in here once it arrives). Ironically after moving I couldnt work out what the spare cable I had was and threw it away, before realising it’s for the turbo trainer! Hence no actual turbo sessions in here since moving yet…

Go easy on those weights @goldenboots don’t want you getting too muscly! Oh and you’ve still not opened your amazon parcel. Could be something exciting!

Never ditch cables!

That’s surely too smart to turbo in?!

What bars/extensions/pads are those? I’ve also got that P2 and want to sort my cockpit out (oh errr).

No basement or garage - 4th floor apartment so options are slim unfortunately, and beats having to set up in the kitchen everytime like the last place

Im currently in the middle of rebuilding the whole cockpit out, hence the lack of brake cables right now as it’s just used on the turbo. It’s currently the Profile design stem (and hydration setup which isnt mounted currently), with 3T Brezza basebar and Zipp vuka bars.

One of the bolts on the basebar has sheared hence the need to change it, and currently unsure what I will put on there. But will lower the headset and cut the fork steerer to make it cleaner on the front once I get round to it

Well, no rush to sort any of it out; this season was pretty much over before it started!

Some mods to pain cave. Inner tube supporting window. New shelf, fan now secured to bench (cable ties)

That would kill my Feng Shui, not sitting square-on to the screen/table

Unfortunately due to massive concrete block, bike can’s sit square, however, as long as I am square to screen it is fine

Made some upgrades in the pain room. Spare monitor at eye level now. Dont have to drag the one from the desk over and balance it on books now. Big fan.
