Supply & demand as a result of the Pandemic/WFH era? Plus Brexit
I’ve never had coffee. Not a full cup. I try a sip one once every year or so but I hate the taste and smell.
Only started drinking team at 28 when I met my wife. Before that, I was a hot Vimto guy when I needed warming up.
The dynamic is also a horrible pig of a thing. Worst rowing machine I’ve ever used, bar none. Run for the bloody hills.
If you want a moving machine, get some sliders (I can almost certainly sell you some) to put with your c2, or get a RowPerfect.
My club will also be turning over 20+ machines post lockdown (and getting new machines) so if still of interest let me know then. There have been some monumental scores posted on them - low 5:40 2ks and sub 15:10 5ks…
no intention of going anywhere near a Dynamic - the whole concept just looks wrong and no interest in sliders (space limitations plus happy with being static). we’re on the waiting list with Concept for a new D to replace our 20 year old C - estimate currently is now mid-March - so we can wait as the C is OK, but just showing it’s age. I’ve replaced the seat rollers on the C and it could do with a new chain and sprocket but given the costs of doing that (and hassle) a new one is more appealing.
I’m sure you’ll get loads of takers for the old C2s - 2nd hand ones on ebay are going for new prices as they are in such short supply
I can’t believe that the article doesn’t mention turbo trainers or treadmills
That’s the difference between a rugby player and a rower - the rugby player just wants to put as much force through the wheel as possible. The rower wants to do it smoothly
sure I understand that but the Concept Dynamic just “looks” wrong. if you want a rower that a) looks like you’re in a boat, and b) moves with your stroke then go with the RP3 range
If you want to see something that just looks plain wrong, how about sliding riggers on a sculling boat -
Even the thought of tea makes me want to vomit, I think it is psychological with me; on the farm when I was young there used to be a tea station, little more than a hot water boiler and supplies on a shelf in the corner of one of the sheds. It was never cleaned, ever, and smelled of rotten milk. Thats the smell that I associate with tea.
They have been around for a while. Not very good. Stick with a sliding seat. Sculling and sweep rowing is freaking knackering. Great once recovered from a race though. Love / hate relationship with the concept 2 ergo’s.
wrong with big capitals WRONG!
why do people try to re-invent the wheel - it very rarely works out well
To be fair, in this instance it worked very well and FISA banned sliding riggers largely on the grounds of cost differential between sliding riggers and conventional fixed riggers.
Looking for some advice.
As per the purchases thread, I now have a much more permanent area for training…
I still need to figure out a way to store my other stuff effectively, as a lot of it is currently in boxes in the other bedroom, which needs to become my WFH office. I’m thinking of something like this to go along the left hand wall as looking at the photo
I think this would actually allow me to store whichever bike is not on the turbo vertically in the clothes hanging space by means of a Clug, or similar. And the shelves, drawers, and remaining hanging space, should give enough room to store spare parts/tube, tools, helmets, jackets, etc.
Before I press the button to purchase (the unit is about £100), am I missing any other option that springs to mind that might offer more storage, be more of a cost effective alternative, or some other benefit? The height of this one is c2m, width is 1.8m, and depth 45cm. The width is the main constraint as otherwise the door would be too tight. Maybe have 20cm or so leeway.
Any other “must have” pain cave recommendations?
waste of money imho. I bought into Clugs when they were still an idea on Kickstarter and when they arrived and I put them to use, I was underwhelmed as there was just not enough grip so bikes would fall out. the design may have changed since so they are better now, but my mind is now prejudiced to them.
Interesting. I know a few people with lots of bikes who use them, so yeah, maybe you got unlucky with their initial production run. All the bike magazines and websites review them pretty highly.
I used to use Cycloc Solo’s in my hallway (I had two), but I can’t see them being space effective in the new house.
ETA - the other option would maybe be a Cycloc Hero now I think about it, on the wall above my turbo. The angled nature of the Hero might mean it doesnt feel “in the way”, and it would enable much more storage on the opposite wall. Hmmm
how about something like this??
I might have clugs knocking around if you want any. I swapped them out for hooks
I see you’ve chosen gender neutral curtains for the nursery; wise move.
Think have posted this somewhere before, but we have a pulley-type ceiling mount for a tandem in a sort of garden room at the back of our house
The advantage is that is is held high up out of the way, and being parallel to a long walk it occupies a cuboid space that doesn’t really intrude too much on the use of the room
