Decent PB for me on L10010 today, couldn’t decide whether to go but I knew I had a 4:30 ride to do and if nothing else it was forecast to be calm, dry and fairly warm, and it would at least get me on the TT bike. A hard parkrun yesterday and poor sleep didn’t help the mood.
I took the first 25 fairly steady and it was obviously going to be quick and I didn’t feel as bad as I expected so picked the pace up a bit. After about 75 miles I was still feeling alright and thought a sub 4:10 was on the cards so tried to keep the power up.
I got to 160K but couldn’t see the finish line and my Garmin was saying 4:08 it was over 161k when I finished, I clocked it as slightly long by about 3-400M, last week’s was under 161K although I know they aren’t perfect.
Final time was 4:09:31, previous PB was 4:16:57, but I did 4:14.xx on the Stockton Wheelers 100 that turned out to be about 300M short.
Would have been about a minute faster as well but my rear mech stopped shifting around 100K, I’d got a notification on my Garmin before the start about a shifting battery being low (eTap) but it didn’t say which one, luckily the front was still working and I got round the roundabout and there’s a layby on about the only hill in the race, so swapped both batteries, note to self about keeping them charged!
I actually ended up putting in 2W more than last week.
AP - 237W
NP - 242W
IF - .83
Cadence - 81 FWIW, I do tend to push a bigger gear.
So, was really pleased with that despite being tired, compared to last week I had my Endura skinsuit on (still nearly castrated me though), better roads, calmer wind. Although there wasn’t a massive amount of traffic assistance.
Could have found a few more W probably if I’d sorted out the disc wheel, put the better tyres on and get some shoe covers.
