Trail & Ultra Running Thread

This was a nice film to watch on Boxing Day.

CREW = Cranky Runner Endless Waiting.
Not heard that one before :joy:

Anyone ordered directly from Harrier Running? Interested in a couple of things in their Boxing Day sale.

Affirmative, ordered some poles last year.

They arrived promptly, seem good quality & I should probably have used them for Sea to Summit but I hadn’t practiced with them.

Would use again.

Cheers mate. I do like their story and she always comes across really well. I’d like to give them some business.

Awful news

That’s very sad.

Really sad.

Apparently he’s a member of the Bob Graham club so clearly no mug on the fells.

Probably never find out what happened.

Terrible.

One for the military types but has anyone done the Nijmegen March? Just speaking with a lady at work and her son is going through the Sandhurst process and she mentioned he did some training in Germany and this 100km March over 3days?

Mate sent me a screenshot of something Centurion posted. He was a well known runner in their races. I can’t seem to copy it though

If he is worried about his fitness then it might give him a psychological boost, teach him how to sort his feet and personal admin out (or what happens when you don’t), but since Sandhurst went equal opportunities then fitness ceased to be a significant hurdle on the course. Failure rate is <10% overall, and rarely down to fitness. Injury will just result in back-squadding, which can be annoying, so robustness and resistance to injuries like tendonitis, back pain and ankle/knee injuries through lots of walking in shoes/boots is more important than running - he will get plenty of gradual fitness build-up once there (if he has visions of being a Para, Infantry or Engineers or similar then fitness expectations are somewhat higher.). Learn to avoid and/or deal with manky feet, crotch rot, wash clothes, handle an iron, clean and polish anything and everything with as little time and effort as possible. Confident map-reading is still a handy skill to arrive with - do some orienteering events, map-read in the car etc.

This is a lovely film about family and supporting goals.

Supposed to be doing a 15 mile trail race tomorrow, this is in the first couple of K’s :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: then the Cleveland way from Whitby is going to be horrible!

Still thinking about it as the last thing I want to do is aggravate the leg which feels tight from sitting at work anyway.

How about doing a no pressure training run on your own, you can always double back.
