Trail & Ultra Running Thread

Curiosity got the better of me about the A66

Apparently there’s supposed to be a decision on approval by the Secretary of State, whoever is doing that this week!

It’s due in early march but has been repeatedly delayed already but they’d try and start later this year.

Probably going to be all over in the early hours and the record well and truly smashed by possibly the first 3.

Incredible achievements, will the fast times have benefited from the slight tailwind & firm ground conditions? How bad has the snow been? Are we talking drifts or spindrifts?

I don’t think the snow has been that bad but frozen puddles and ice on rocks seems to have been tricky

The snow pictures I’ve seen weren’t deep but that was mostly around the checkpoints, might be a different story in the open.

Their feed also said they were holding people back in some checkpoints until conditions either improved or there was small groups to go together. I’m guessing they get that knocked off their overall time?

Got a feeling Goss might have been affected

Lucy just made it through a checkpoint before they halted the other runners for 2hrs because snow conditions were bad. On her Instagram she says nav was really difficult & she was basically stood still in a blizzard for a couple of hours.

Snow must be a hard challenge, apart from the cold, the trail disappears !

Looks like there is a camera at the finish line - on the live tracking . Jack should be there soon

That really is some kind of off the scale nutter race. I can’t even imagine.

10 hours off the course record , just amazing.

Just seen the video of his finish - they then try to interview the poor guy - I have never seen anyone looking so like they just wanted to lie down somewhere warm with no camera in his face

I think for the leaders the conditions have been pretty good as they’ve been ahead of the worst weather.

Lucy Goss made it over Cross Fell before they started grouping runners

It was car crash TV wasn’t it!

Also I think that it was 15 miles shorter this year. So pretty easy really

Apparently he had 54 minutes sleep during the race
