Fairly sure I’ve done several fell races that she’s done, might be from the North Yorkshire area.
I’m sure you’ll tell us
Scottish apparently but ran for York Knavesmire which is where I’ll have come across her as they do a lot of the NYM fell races.
Looks like she’s based in the Lake District now so plenty of training choices.
Not good news
For the depressing read of the week, you can catch up with the series of blogs on Running Mann’s website regarding the mismanagement and incompetence of the Comrades Marathon Association and how great things turn bad in South Africa. My mother (4x Comrades finisher) can’t bear to read the articles, my stepdad (grew up in Pietermaritzburg) was absolutely spitting when I shared this with him.
I was thinking of aiming for Comrades 2026. I think I will wait until this crowd of clowns are removed from their management of the race.
Unfortunately I suspect you might be waiting a long time?
As you say quite a depressing read. An organisational disaster in 2023 (I was there and can confirm) they find someone competent who completely turns it around in 2024. But because someone else, who happens to be incompetent, felt she should have the job the former is hounded out. 2025 is going to be interesting.
Such a shame as it is a beautiful race
I don’t know. There’s a lot of “rallying the troops” going on at the moment. South Africans fiercely defend things that are important to them. And comrades is important. It doesn’t have an apartheid tainted history - it always allowed runners of colour - so it has the whole population defending it.
Unfortunately that’s why it became worth “capturing” and came with kudos for being part of it. But the same people that saw it as important enough to get into it are also those that don’t believe in hard work. It’s one of THE MOST FRUSTRATING things about South Africa. It is also perpetuated by the ruling party so everyone thinks they can do it.
I remain positive that this can be turned around but it’s going to take a fight.
When I ran the down year in 2016 it was ok -well apart from the kamikaze bus driver , I didn’t think we would survive the journey. Hope it gets sorted - it’s such a good race
One for you and Jack @tunster
The fight back is starting and it’s started with a kicking for the existing board. Let’s hope the momentum builds

Just watched this, I like Tom and his outlook to racing.
I knew about his incident in SA but didn’t know 5 runners were killed as well!
He has started doing some podcasts as well which I keep meaning to have a listen to
I may have shared already
Some pockets of good news out of the CMA meeting last night. They’ve got rid of the blatant racist that was part of the board. They’ve not gotten rid of the other 2 that caused issues but they will be nervous! Lots of independent panels and reviews planned for other contentious topics.
The main thing is now that all AGMs will be accessible remotely and remote attendees will be allowed to vote. So those of you here that have run Comrades (you have to have run Comrades), please join, it costs less than £5 for annual membership and then you can vote and keep this special race alive. It’s very important to so many people.
My mate sent me a txt that was an extract from FB (which I’m not on) from Arc. Basically says anyone receiving assistance outside of the 4 designated crew areas will have an hour added to their time.
I won’t have a crew but from what I can tell, it won’t allow for a change of shoe for the Marazion to Penzance/Mousehole road stretch.
Smells like UTMB to me!!!
I reckon the Flying Angels will be next. You won’t recognise this race in 2yrs IMO.
A friend of mine, who is a whole world madder than me, is currently attempting to beat the Everesting world record on foot.
This is not “just” the running world record, its the overall record for running and cycling - Nima is basically attempting to run 10 consecutive Everests
He started on Wednesday, and is about to finish his 4th everest.
He is a multiple BYUltra winner, and currently holds the Everesting cycling world record - so it’s possible that he could do it
