Forgot part 4 and 5
Just watched this. Some people are just on such a different level that itâs hard to get your head around it!
Spine races start on Saturday, Lucy Gossage is going again and if youâve not seen the crazy story about the aftermath of her run last year itâs worth a read
https://lucygossage.com/the-spine-take-2-a-race-for-closure/
I see John Kelly is also back for another go
And also Nick Reed (formerly of this parish aka Repo) is doing the Challenger North version - only 160 miles Challenger North â The Spine Race
I wonder how deep it still is in the exposed parts!
Goss is great though
Such a classy person/athlete.
Looks like it might get a bit milder for the spine races next week, could drop to -15C in parts of it tonight along with knee deep snow that is still there.
Iâve absolutely no idea why people are motivated to do it in the winter!
This, I love dot watching and the energy the runners put into this , but I really am not great with the cold, and it just looks so cold.
On another note Debbie Martin Consani who has won the spine previously who I have known for years is in Western States this year and I kinda invited myself to be part of the support crew - will be ace to see it from a different angle. (I am also wanting to tick of a couple of things whilst out there so going to head to Yosemite again and hopefully get a permit to go up half dome).
I spoke to a guy who has done it a couple of times - he was happier with cold as it meant the ground was frozen and so not boggy
That sounds like a great adventure @p00key
Exchanging a load of messages with my Arc mate, heâs really been crushing the volume lately. I donât have FOMO but I wish I was strong enough to give it a proper nudge.
2wks to go!
Getting excited nowđ
Iâm feeling as ready as I can be. Paranoid about getting sick though - not helped by working in a hospital overrun with flu & other lurgy!
Always a risk with a January race!
Good stuff mate, wouldnât want to be out there tonight
Iâve agreed to do that 23km night course with Jamie on Sunday morning. Not at night but weâre starting at 7.30am
It wonât be beautiful when the snow melts & turns to mush!
They were talking about that, seems like Tues/Wed might be âbog cityâ!
It might not get warm enough to melt in the high peaks of the Pennines?
