Trail & Ultra Running Thread

Does anyone know of David Hellard from Bad Boy Running? I met his sister today in a cafe. She made him out to be some kind of running God but unless I’m looking at the wrong name, nothing really stands out.
I beat his RttKing time by 2.5hrs :man_shrugging:t2:

Listen to the podcast. Probably a slightly above average runner who believes anyone faster is a sad runner wanker. Quite funny though and not quite an insufferable as his co-host.

He did the fast 400 m off the front of the London marathon before someone else copied it a few years after. He might have copied it off someone before the but his was the first I saw

Hey @tunster , I was talking to my mate Craig today about SDW100. I hadn’t even realised we go off in different waves! Did they do that last year?

Not as I recall @FatPom

They are doing a 50km this year which goes at a different time?

Not sure but the info pack says this. I don’t remember reading it, I think I put an ETA of 28hrs.

0415 - MATTERLEY BOWL

  • Registration open for both waves: Bib and Tracker collection, Crew Passes and Pacer Bibs
  • Drop Bag & Finish Bag deposit open

0515 - MATTERLEY BOWL

  • Registration for Wave 1 runners closes. Wave 1 Race Briefing.

0530 - MATTERLEY BOWL

  • Wave 1 Race Start

0615 - MATTERLEY BOWL

  • Registration for Wave 2 runners closes. Wave 2 Race Briefing.

0630 - MATTERLEY BOWL

  • Wave 2 Race Start

Oh - interesting

At least they will give wave 2 a corresponding time to finish -

1130 - EASTBOURNE SPORTS PARK

  • 100 mile 30 hour cut off for Wave 1 Runners

1230 - EASTBOURNE SPORTS PARK

  • 100 mile 30 hour cut off for Wave 2 Runners

Not like UTMB last time I did it and they didn’t give later waves any allowance at the cut offs for starting, later :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

Got emailed about this earlier, they’re doing a lot of road races and have some trails including this in the Lake District, the 50K will be tough including Scafell. Quite a few around the country and even a few overseas. I wonder if they’ve been taking over other races.

The 20K is probably a bit too short for what I want and the 50K is going to be too long really.

10 loops of the Badger 6hour challenge done.
Distance 53.25 km elevation 1,355 m time 6:03
It was a nice day for a random midweek ultra, sunny, light winds and cool, but not too cold. Managed to run the hill every lap, felt strong all the way through. Quads feeling it now though.

Nice one @doug ; I did one of their events last year, which was well organised. I’m sure you have mentioned this above somewhere but is this training for a specific event?

Mushroom mushroom !

3 folks managed 11 loops, 4 did 10, looks like I was 3rd (or 2nd last) of the 10 loopers.

I’m not sure what’s more impressive Doug, your athletic ability at your age or the amount of hair you have left! I’m envious of both
