Trail & Ultra Running Thread

My mate Jamie ran the Queens of the Suburbs 50km in London, came 10th! Ran with David Bone who I’ve heard of on some podcasts.

Think I came 38/72 overall and 9/11 in MV50 AG. Oddly, there doesn’t seem to be a MV60 AG and one person in MV70.

Some pics here, mostly smiling

Is that with RAW Adventures? If so I did a few recces with them and they are really good, especially with the technical bits, all the guides were really knowledgable on the route and very helpful with general questions about the event.

Yes, RAW adventures, other than the day 1 technical bits, were there any other recces from them you would recommend ? I plan to do a few on my own.

Also signed up to a 4 week climbing course to hopefully help with my scrambling, which is safe but slow.

Were you one of the people I kept seeing coming out by the car park and running past the leisure centre?

Yep, approx 5.15pm!

I was back inside then but missed you by about 5minutes, as was walking back from the river past the boxing club/car park about 5:10 for El Ninos last race at 5:20 ish! .

My first time in Winchester, you are very lucky to live there, beautiful part of the country. Had a really nice weekend, lots of walking (26km over 2 days and 16km on Saturday alone) bet its great running out into the hills. I need to come back without swimming getting in the way

At various times I did the 2nd half of day 1 which was invaluable (over 2 days), the first half of day 2 and the 2nd half of day 3 (although that was curtailed due to a storm), as you have found trying to self recce those with the poor transport links is a bit of a nightmare. All the rest of the route was done alone or with friends, I’m South Wales based so anything south of day 3 was a bit more straightforward.

If I can help with any information just ask, more than happy to help!

It’s a shame we missed each other!

We are blessed with lovely trails and views around here. Did you go up St Catherine’s Hill? That’s where I do my repeats.

I would definitely be up for the bigger challenge if I can spend the rest of the year getting that vert in…

Would love to do it but am pessimistic that the hip is ever going to let me, even if by some miracle I built up the fitness to do it. Limping at the moment

So it’s on you guys to fly the TT flag I think

12 months for rehab\strength work. Do the 73K fun run and you could be sipping Fossies by the sea watching the sunset as the loonies roll home
