Were they in a helicopter?
Yes, no idea how you could get up and down those hills in that time. I think Iād be happy if I could do half of it in that time.
Wow, thatās very impressive. I am thinking about giving this a go in a couple of years time. Has anyone on here done it?
see conversation on 3rd October above
Iām possibly hoping to get over and look at maybe leg 2 later in the week.
Doooh, apologies I had only read the last few messages on this thread.
If you want more inspiration last night I watched Nicky Spinksās film on You Tube where she attempts a double BGR in under 48 hours. A very moving film and not just because of the running. Its only about 40 mins long but worth checking out.
Yeah thatās a great film. What a woman she is! Have you also seen the docu on her Barkley attempt? Thatās worth a watch.
Oh yeah I have watched every Barkleyās film going!! I love that race and I really like the organizer Lazarus Lake. He is quite a character.
Talking of which this weekend is another of his races The Big Dogs Backyard Ultra. I believe that it is being live streamed. The premise of the race is that you have an hour to complete a 6.7K loop, so if you take 40 mins for the first lap you have 20 mins before the start of the next. The race is continuous and the winner is the last man/woman standing. Check out the article below about Maggie Guterl, last years winner, who would like to go for 100hours/400miles!!! Again there are loads of You Tube clips of this race that are worth checking out
Yeah there are quite a few of these popping up around the world over the last few years. I think it may have originated in Canada somewhere. I really like the concept though! Wouldnāt mind trying one one day.
On a more personal note, iāve now bought new trailies and a new headtorch this month. So i guess that means i need to start doing some proper running and make the purchases worthwhile!!!
Iāve seen the one with Courtney in it, it looks like hell of a race. Iām going against the grain and say I donāt take to Nicky Spinks very well. Hell of a runner for sure but I canāt watch more than two minutes of her for some reason.
She does have a Land Rover with MEAT as a rego plate though, so sheās not all bad.
I was lucky enough to meet her at a running event in February at the NEC (seems such a long time ago now) and she came across as very nice. Very approachable and happy to chat whilst waiting for her coffee (we were in the same queue)
Good to hear, maybe itās me then. Sheās tough as they come for sure.
I canāt imagine thatās the case
I am still entered into the NZ one (when it finally happens), lockdown 2 came 3 days before the start so they got stung quite badly poor buggers, although I had already deferred to next April as my wife said there is no way she is coming to watch in the middle of winter.
There is an NZ team been sorted for the WC mentioned above, I am not doing it though as I just cant wrap my head around a virtual event.
EDIT (meant to reply on GBās post!)
This poor chap. After nearly being dinner for a mountain lion the international press stick the knife in and call him a ājoggerā
scary stuff
not sure my first thought would have been to film the whole thing though
yeah think iād have been reaching down for some rocks or a branch ⦠not my mobile phone!!
He canāt be on ST or heād have been running with a gun.
Someone trying a triple Bob Graham if anyone is bored, started leg one this morning.
Bonkers
