That’s insane… but I will now probably follow the whole thing
Think Damian Hall is going for a South Wales FKT as well. A route up and over the Beacons
How is he getting into Wales?
I’ve just checked this link and unfortunately he has had to abandon due to stomach issues on lap 1. Shame
i think he may live there. He certainly trains in the Beacons a lot.
That was yesterday, he took the FKT by 5 minutes but it was touch and go all the way
Ah he did it, fair one.
He was talking down his chances in an interview i read before the attempt. Think it was his mate that had the previous record.
That’s a shame, I was hoping I might see it today or tomorrow as I’m nearby.
In the Big Dog “backyard” ultra three runners are left after 48 hours/200 miles

Correction: there are three runners left in the US, 14 left worldwide (there are concurrent events running in different countries)
nutters
Thanks for this. There is also a Facebook group and if that is not enough there is the following link which has updates on the hour from Laz
ooh - down to 2 in the US - not sure about the other countries
Is this the one Courtney Duwalter is running at the mo? Seem to recall something on Salomon’s insta
yep - she is one of the 2
didn’t appreciate the format this year means that the worldwide winner needs to essentially have 2 still standing when everyone else has given up
Once a country is down to 1 then they are only allowed to complete one final lap
The 2 still standing then presumably fight it out amongst themselves
hmmm … where’s the sense in that?
Are the nations running the same event (if that makes sense) i.e. all US based athletes on the same course etc etc. Or is it all totally separate and virtual?
I think everyone running the same distance - whether the same elevation or not, I don’t know
everyone started at the same time I think
I guess it gives it a global feel
How is it being verified?
according to a twitter feed:
Lap 51. Only Mexico still has 3 runners. Germany’s lone runner is on their final yard (once a runner is the only one to start for their country they may complete one final yard). Sweden, Belgium, and the US are now running in pairs.
They are all running the same distance for a lap and each lap has to have the same elevation as the US version. That’s probably as close to making it the same between countries. I guess there will be differences in temperature and the fact that everyone starts at the same time is going to disadvantage some countries (those who start at night time). I think this event (multiple countries all starting at the same time) is a one of due to COVID but who knows
Just checked, 49 hours in, 12 competitors left from 5 countries
