Training Peaks - Worth it?

It syncs to Wahoo head units as well, but you’re not really asking this…sorry.

3 day Training Peaks virtual conference starts this afternoon UK time. Some interesting looking talks on there considering free access for TP members.

Is there a way to find my 10 mile PB on bike? Running peak can be found easily enough via Peak Performances.

Good Morning :wave:t3:

My sub has elapsed and it’s like someone has cut off a limb

Does anyone have one of those delicious discount codes for 40% off?
British Cycling used to do them…

Cheers!!!

I did use the SEARCH function, but I don’t think The Blackpool Lounge comes up?

Or the search function doesn’t equate TrainingPeaks to Training Peaks

Yeah, stuff like that needs to stay in the Lounge, I think. Keeps us out of bother

I’ve actually gone all year without it. I’m not sure if it’s been a good or bad thing

I feel slightly addicted to it. Intervals is good, but TP is like a broken-in comfy chair.

Are you coached with a plan, though?

I like to set my own sessions for the week and see them, I find I tend to do them that way.

I think for £60, then benefits of it over Strava at £48 are huge.

I also like plotting out my season and racing in it.

Yes, true. Although it also means I can see the full season progression my coach has set out. Or see how the sessions I am doing are impacting my “numbers”. As someone who likes data, that’s hard!

I honestly dont get why anyone doesn’t make a simple calendar to rival TP. Strava puts loads of focus on to adding nonsense that is more for the gadget crowd rather than of any use and yet they can’t do basic calendar planningg. Garmin Connect is equally lame.

Training Peaks is so stagnant it stinks and if Strava allowed forward planning in a calendar id drop TP in a second

I just like looking at the graphs and stuff, and I do actually like the layout.

I don’t plan sessions, don’t have a coach or any of that. But when I went a few months without it, I did miss it. No idea why! :joy:

I’ll have a play. I think I looked in the past and although its clearly excellent for analysis I think I remember it not being quite as user friendly as TP in that you could. copy, paste, move work outs around, sync weight etc. Maybe its moved on but thanks for reminding me!

I have had plans from a coach in the past. These were in a PDF and the first thing I did is transfer them to TP.

Now I set my own.

I like to be able to put an event in and work back with the sessions. Good for checking TSS is not ramping too sharply etc.

Intervals I think is better at graphs. But the TP calendar is more intuitive.

How does one get into ‘the lounge’, is there some sort of initiation required?

My TP subs are due next week and my Brit Tri code is 20%, had 40 last year, so they must have reduced it due to my poor race performances or something

EDIT: thanks @Jorgan , I have the answer!

I’ve joined British Cycling and want to renew my TP sub, but cannot find a discount code

£120 for the year is actually good value for what it gives you, but if I could get that down to £6 per month, I’d be even happier!

It was good when I was training for Ironmans, but I let my subscription lapse after 2019.

I couldn’t find a code when I looked recently either. Been getting by with the Garmin30 etc type codes which give you access for 30 days.

When they run out I will have to find a new one or suck up the cost.
