Thanks. It’s a bit of a mixed bag. I have an entry in the lottery for CCC but won’t know until Jan 9th.
The main plan for this year was Endure 24 in July. (24hr 8km laps) and some trail events. But I usually have a bit of a road running season early in the year with the Bramley 20 miler and Winchester 10km in Feb.
The folks at work all want to enter Abingdon Mara in Oct, several of us hoping for sub 4hr. However, I wanted a benchmark marathon at the start of the season to see where I’m at, so I’ve entered Newport on April 19th but with the way training is going and knowing how knackered I get end of season, I’m thinking Newport my be my all out effort this year.
Training wise, I’m just trying to put consistent weeks together, mileage wise, knocking it back every 4th week and having a medium week as well. It’s all very unscientific!
At the moment, taking on board the comments about sustainable runs at marathon pace and adjusting my mental strength to accommodate that.
Had the lurgy this week which has put paid to a few sessions but managed a 7.5hr week, which in the circumstances I’m happy with. I’ve just entered a few early season sporting TTs to give me a bit of focus for the first three months of the year. I bloody hate them but I need a few sessions where I have to dig a bit deeper.
Well i did one run OK Friday. Was as expected with the lurg. Was going to try to run today but I’m battered even more and my sinusitis is playing havoc. I used up my limited bit of energy today chainsawing and pruning the apple and fig trees. I was wheezing and panting like you wouldn’t believe. Nice to get some fresh air though. Along with an easy hour walk with the family.
Going to try to force myself out at lunchtimes next week as I’m too tired come the evenings. Once this crap finally relents I’ll start dialling up.
Another big week of mostly running, I (stupidly) decided I’d go and do a local fell race today despite suffering at the parkrun yesterday, and it was more of the same
I plodded round and was getting overtaken off a few people but did manage to pull back a few places in the last 2K. But was a fair bit behind a few people I’m usually fairly close to and they just left me for dead earlier on.
That is a couple of big weeks of running, mostly over the moors with a few tough races and parkruns, and a little bit of cycling.
So, will be taking it easy this week, got a local quick half next Sunday and if I can recover I’m hoping I might get a half decent time depending on conditions, but if it’s anything like today it will be a slow deathmarch to the end again!
Yesterday I did a run up and down the Brecon Beacons called the Fan Dance. It was my son’s idea- he (still) wants to join the army.Today I can hardly walk, poor old man. Not sure if this counts as training or self-flagellation.
…woke up, walked to work (it’s about 16 steps from the bedroom to my office), logged on…
…entered some races!
Wilmslow Half Marathon
Southport Sprint Triathlon (I wussed out of the Olympic distance, as it’s a 2021 ETU qualifier thing)
Bought my cycle club membership
Just got to plan in the half marathon training to Training Freaks now
SWIMMING
The pool is closed Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of this week.
Nearest one is 8 miles away and I CBA to cycle/drive there and back for a 40 minute swim, so
EDIT
Booked my 30 days holiday for the year already
