That is insane!

I’ve seen a 1:31 for a first time rower !
Not that tall either but 19 stone +.

He never went on it again, said it was
“ an awful contraption”

He could run 8:30 miles too.

If you look at Phil Clapp, he’s very muscled so ideal for a 500m blast. Back in the day - probably 30+ years ago now - I did a 1:24 for 500m but I was playing a lot of rugby as prop so not too dissimilar in shape to Mr Clapp.

and fwiw - the 1000m record fell recently to James Hall at 2:39.3 He’s the brother of Eddie Hall who’s won the World’s Strongest Man title a couple of times and not too different in size and bulk.

Anything up to 500 ms seems to be pure power.

1:40 is my best when I was heavy but fit in my early 30”s, I was never that heavy 14 st and was still the same height/ levers etc.

The Chester rowing club used to get free passes at total fitness Chester, some of those 7 foot ish guys could really shift but didn’t really seem interested in a flat out 500.

It’s a great machine for all round strength and fitness, probably the best

There are quite a lot of rugby players who are usually both tall and strong setting some fast times. Back in the day Roger Uttley and Andy Ripley, both England internationals, were C2 world champions and record holders. Andy was 6’8 with very long levers.

And I recently spotted another ex-England international 2nd row setting some great times in the 60+ age groups - Paul Ackford.

80/20 right out of the window this week, more like 20/80 but some good ish results.

Wound it in with a steady 3 hour static bike, all zone 2 and weight loss.

Av hr bang on 130 and kms higher than I’d expect. OOD gels have some strange flavours.

2 hrs hill repeat session- 710m of vert

Really pleased with that - the first hill (before the reps) is a bigger climb but even steeper so hard to be running that.

Faded on the 5th rep but felt good on the first 4

Rewarded the dog with a Ginsters sausage roll on the way home

Half marathon tomorrow around Aintree racecourse with Mrs T - going to keep her company as it’s supposed to be an easy day

Weeks trial at gym ends tomorrow. I’ve just been steam room, sauna, cold shower for 3 hours :joy:

It will include entering and leaving the station but that will not include the Roxzone which is from the running track to the entrance to the ski-erg zone and also will include the run out of the zone back into the Roxzone. So the time is probably 10 metres of running plus the ski-erg and then another 10 metres of running.

Climbing wall session yesterday (usually around 2.5 - 3hrs) Got compliments on my technique and strength , this made me really happy as it came from someone who’s quite critical and doesn’t dish out compliments just to be nice. Climbing again today and back out running tomorrow.
 Have a lovely Sunday everyone

Good work Anna, that’s got to be helping with your confidence for your upcoming adventure?

Thanks FP, it’s definitely giving me confidence for my summer outdoor climbing plans  which might be slowed down by the fact someone asked me to run/walk a 100km with them recently :joy:. I’m like a child in a sweetie shop, I want it all!!

4hrs 90km gravel ride.

Fuelled by two lemsips and a stubborn attitude
Who needs calories?

Felt like death. Went out anyway.
Collapsed now. :skull_and_crossbones::headstone::coffin:

No route; just went round the gravel at the airport, then picked up some long straight off road bit into Brooklands, then into Sale.
Bridgewater Canal, Ashton Canal, Peak Forest Canal…then I avoided Macc Canal and hit Middlewood Way instead.
Home via Hocker Lane cobbles :white_check_mark::heart_eyes:

Bit slower than I’d have liked, also about 10km short :sob:

In Winter & particularly on gravel it’s all about time & climb :white_check_mark:.

Well … I was just gonna cycle for 100km, but didn’t set off until 0830, needed to be ready by 1pm blah blah blah.

As for climbing :laughing::laughing:
Canals - FLATAF :white_check_mark:

The 15km climb from Manchester to Ashton was brutal :laughing::laughing:
That’s a 75m elevation gain. I was pushing in places
