Got out for a run today, despite not feeling 100%. There’s something not quite right still. I’m sleeping loads, wking up shattered still, not recovering from exercise properly; but not showing any obvious symptoms other than a tiny bit of a scratchy throat. My guess is i’m just fighting this illness that Mrs GB has been hit pretty hard by for the past 10 days or so.
Meant that everything was all disconnected on my run. HR not matching breathing and legs and effort etc. HR is up, legs felt like utter jelly even on the easy downhill sections. But then the pace return was ‘normal’ for what the general effort felt like. Hard to explain, but when you train for as many years as we do, you just know when something isn’t quite right. Maybe i should’ve gone with the HR and backed off everything regardless.
Anyway, split run 10km and 5.5km with a coffee, bread and chinwag at a mate’s house in between.
@Mungo2 I’ve just found the Hyrox PFT thing. Have you given it ago? You can submit your time to where you rank among others which gives a rough idea what division you should be entering.
Ah I’ve also got a local sprint, rolled over from last year but it’s June 11th, not much use if I do Cotswold on the 4th. Local sprints are fun races though, you should go for it.
I did the homemade effort and never thought about it again,I’ll look it up.
I spent a lot of time researching it, key to a best time for you seems to be consistent run times, not being really bad at one exercise ( this is common, usually sled pull, burpees or the lunges) and not setting a new 10? Year max hr during it !
2 out of 3 ain’t bad I guess, I’m 99% sure I’m better at this than tri so I’m going to do it again and enter next year (55/60) Jesus I’m old.
@adam - I used to find entering a sprint race when There’s a Worlds/Euros qualifier event at the same race helps
Also, events in the North West the same day as IMUK etc
Anyways … training
Got my little boy pants on and managed 800m at the pool before I had to leave for the train
Need to leave home earlier
I often find myself feeling very “unnatural” when training. Get it both cycling and running - esp when not in race mode.
Brain is always on overdrive analysing how cr@p I feel - never been able to switch that off; especially with always carrying a niggle or five.
Felt like I’ve not run for 6 months today - could barely pick feet up off the ground. Upper body rigid, arms down by my sides.
