Felt rough yesterday. Headaches and low energy. Had 2 separate 1 hr lie downs. Went to bed early but then the cough kicked in.
Woke up early this morning and decided to test the body. Went for a run. Should’ve probably bailed earlier rather than bloody mindedly doing the route I’d set out.
Only way I can describe it was like when your car goes onto limp/safety mode. All bodily systems felt throttled. HR was lower than ever, which is super weird. Was seeing low 130s on the descents. I’ve don’t think I’ve ever seen that on a run before. Muscles ache. Head is fuzzy. Chest is tight.
Have sacked work off for the day as I feel exhausted. Muscles, energy, head. Hopefully a day of rest early on will catch it and clear it.
Concept 2 WOD today. Currently #1 in the World again - out of 1 in my AG! Won’t stay that way!!

Started feeling a sore throat yesterday and runny nose but the temperature was a bit up and down. Had some paracetamol and although I slept a long time it wasn’t very good. Feeling a bit better now and things like HRV are alright. Throat has eased a bit.
Anyway, going to have another rest day, although I was wandering around for hours yesterday.
Season is turning into a bit of a disaster.

3 hour ride up the Selva climb in Mallorca and back down Lluc via P.Pollensa for lunch. SO MANY CYCLISTS! Too hot for this N Scotland dweller - was sweating buckets. Oh well my body will adapt.
Followed by 1.10 mins cumulative sauna time at 90°C helped by a 5°C plunge pool. I’m more proud of that than the ride

Those rim brakes are screaming like a banshee on the descents despite my best efforts at early gentle braking. They’re shit. I’ve just swapped in some Black Prince pads this evening to see if it helps. Else I’m going to get some frowns in the 312 Sportive on Sat .

It is a Chris King headset. It wouldn’t occur to me to use anything else. Wish I’d ponied up for the Ti version though.
METCON last night, most agreed one of the more savage ones we’ve done in a while. How safe is it running you heart rate close to max regularly?
First block 10 cals on an erg, 10x 20kg DB snatches, 5-6 handstand pushs, Then 5 rounds of 20x 7kg wall balls, and 12x Burpee box step ups. Last block 15 cals, 15x burpee over bar. I couldn’t hold the 15 as I was getting no rest so dropped to 12.
Then did a 30 min erg interval session and 20km on the bike. Need to see how the groin leg situation is running potentially tonight.
sometimes when I run uphills my HR goes above my max, and so far, I am still here, just!
A drive on Monday caused the leg to bleed under the dressing which wasn’t good, think it was the angle of the foot for the clutch. Also finger bled that day again, under the dressing.
So taking life a tad more gentle since.
5 minute walk today, felt ok and not bleeding, maybe a tiny bit of core and strength later and apparently dressing off next Wed.
So who knows tomorrow, maybe a 10 min walk!
Was it stitched up? After having a sizeable lump removed from my leg I really feel the stitches should have stayed in for an extra week as it opened up a bit once they got removed and I think I’ve probably got more of a gnarly scar than I would have. But I’m not Dr or nurse so…
Yes it is (was?) stiched up, so hoping that it was just a small bleed. Back to hospital next week but I’m not sure whether that’s the stiches as well as dressing as there was talk of a local nurse at GP surgery removing them. How long were your stitches in for @Sowler ?
Stiches were only in a week, which IMO really wasn’t long enough. How much risk there is leaving them in an extra week I couldn’t, say but if your wanting to keep exercising, some form of mechanical fixing keeping things held together I think would be better than stick ons. If I had my time again I’d leave them in an extra few days at a minimum 100%.
