Training - What Training?!

The morons do it all the time at ours, then usually leave after about 2 minutes when it’s too hot

Got a day off by myself today, but a sudden case of the CBAs for some reason. Been sitting watching random stuff on youtube for the last 2 hours. Started OK with a language lesson but somehow got diverted via platypus conservation, into great golfing putts of the 1990s

Got to man up and do something, might risk a swim.

I did another swim. That’s 3 in 3 weeks now. Check me out! :joy:

Nice leisurely lunchtime run, 1h20m, 6 miles, 1087 feet of ascent.

Left calf felt like a golfball (or larger)… presume that’s cos the skin is repairing and tightening again around said muscles.

20K flat trail run, running is hard work at the moment for some reason, waking up at 5am regularly probably isn’t helping!

Topped my morning swim with a nice mixed terrain run. Probs should be putting some hours in on the bike for my big ride in June. But an evening like this and the trails were calling me.

On reflection, probably worked a bit hard. But you know when it’s sunny. You’re in the zone. Trails were weirdly empty. Loads of wildlife about.

Though some of the quieter trails are starting to get overtaken by the nettles and other plants now. Miraculously only came away with two mild stings. Will leave those particular routes alone for a couple of months now.

21.4km with 438m elevation in just under 1.39

Starting to feel a little more like my old self now.

Gym for me this morning, still have a cough and cold.

Rowing, 4k hard, 0.5k everything I had left.
2 sets each of donkey kicks, weighted bridges, sumo squats, calf raises, sit ups.

55km on the bike for me last night.

‘Twas told it was a flat ride :rage::rage::rage:

I was about 3 milliseconds on turning for home on the middle hill, as it’s The Beast of Bollington and I despise it :rage:

But I dragged my 98kg frame up there, and was fourth to the top :exploding_head:
I then sat on the front until Prestbury, made my charge to the top of there and Pexhill, where I was duly overtaken by all :sob:

But then it was hammer time :hammer_and_pick:

Sat on the front at 35-40kmh until I rode off from them, as I was sick of all the stopping and it’d gone past 8pm and I wanted to be home :joy::joy::joy:

Got home in an absolute rage, where my wife reminded me why I’d stopped riding in groups :face_with_peeking_eye::sob:

‘Casual’ group rides generally suck for training. You just need to ride with 1 or 2 others of a similar ability or alone.

The only ‘group’ ride I ever really enjoyed was Brevet Cymru, and that was mostly me and 1 or 2 others after the first 50km. Just stopped at the controls; coz you need to eat on a 400k ride init.

Yeah, I’m not training.
I’m out for a ride.
Which is what I wanna do.
Ride :mountain_biking_man:t3:

The stopping drives me mental.
I’m perfectly happy to regroup at the top of hills, junctions etc. but that regroup is not a chance to have a picnic, comfort break, take a selfie or check your rabbit is okay :rage:

It’s a 2hr ride. There should be zero need for food, stops, or selfies etc. :woman_shrugging:t4:

If you need to take a piss on a two hour ride, you should probably visit the GP to get your prostate checked.

“Starts at 1845. Prompt.”
Leaves at 1849

I’m okay in winter, as we do the flat rides, so I can go with the top group. But they do more hills in the summer, so that’s me out :x:

Even when I could keep up going uphill, I was always dropped on descents. I’m not into coming off my bike just for 1kmh or some pointless KoM :x::woman_shrugging:t4:

So yeah, back out on my Todd on Sunday.
Same 110k route I’ve done three times this year and about a dozen times since lockdown :joy:
I managed zero seconds of stopping time last time I did it :face_with_peeking_eye:

Why do people need selfies on routine group rides?
