With a ride report
I think itās to encourage more people to come out and ride, emphasising the social aspect, but also to advertise the club and grow membership numbers.
āToday I rode 205km. It was flat. Apart from one bastard hill. Where I lost 1kmh from my average. I got home and went to the pub. I didnāt stop for a piss, or to take off my arm warmers. Or to put them back on again. Or to take them off again. Or to then put them on again.ā
I disagree; psychologically people āneedā do things like selfies or upload to Strava. Because they believe it doesnāt "countā or even exist if they donāt. It gives them self validation.
It has little to do with having a positive outlook on life. Welcome to the digital age, where a lot of people live vicariously through others online.
My club caters for all at different rides but there arenāt many of us.
I enjoy a social and I like training rides ( when I ride!) but mentally, I make sure Iām good with which one Iām joining.
Iād hate to do all one or the other though
Any easy day - nice slow 27.62 miles on roadbike, 1686ft ascent, a pedestrian 2h45!
Included my favourite Guffolk Hill, 3.5 miles about 5% steady, said it before but will say it again, tick tock tick tock spin spin spin spin. Back up the Mennock Pass to finish
Iām doing it tomorrow, (Brighton) well, I canāt be bothered riding down to the seafront so will loop around after the Beacon downhill to Devils Dyke and have a coffee there before heading home
I want to go after work on alternate Thursdays, but itās now Ā£10 on the day
Ā£7.50 pre-book, but I never know what mood Iāll be in after 90 miles on the M6
Just drove past the beach on my way back from the bakery. Itās a northerly so the sea is absolutely pan flat and gorgeous looking in the sun. But Iām sans wetsuit! It looks amazing for a swim.
Might see if I can butcher my wetsuit on and zipped up in final time for a 20/30 min dip later on. But the wind is picking up and swinging East, so itāll get a bit choppier.
Time my dear friend. Itās the one commodity I am very low on. I donāt have the free time to go get my bike out of the shed. Find a lock. Find a backpack that will take the shopping. Ride to town (nowhere close to lock the bike). Back again. All whilst 3 girls are going wild in the house waiting for their pastries and bread!
And Iām not sure a 2 mile flip flop rode is gonna have too much of an impact on Wales!
Shepperton has just gone up to Ā£7 it used to be a fiver for years but they bumped it the covid year and itās just gone up another pound
Nice and relaxed swim this morning. Wasnāt as cold as I feared but my feet are freezing now though. I thought about going round for a forth lap but headed to the beach instead, my arms were just starting to feel it.
Lovely to be back in the OW though, first time since Utah and that feels like a lifetime ago.
Just getting my bike ready, going full kit wanker today sans aero lid, sun is just making an appearance too
