@Poet do you have an opinion on this?
I hope he took time to take a nice photo of the cake & then needed an old man wee 20mins after setting off .
I might stop to get my sleeves on!
Yāall can FRO
Iāve just done my standard ~105km loop, managed 30.1kmh, but 37 seconds of stopping time
EDIT: strava has robbed me of 0.1kmh
Utterly raging.
M56 is closed at Runcorn and all the back roads are rammed, plus itās 20° and the world and his dog are off to Delamere / Peckforton / Beeston etc.
I hate them all.
Right, Alderley Edge May Day now.
Pint and a lunch
3h in
Aching more
No way Iām doing an hour brick run
In my defence Iād been marshalling on deathwish roundabout since 8am and knew I might not get anything until the end. The second was closed.
Had an old man wee first
Steady 85km with a coffee and fruit cake stop.
Why would you do that?
Itās 20° out and beautiful.
Thatās utterly insane.
Manchester half with Mrs T - warm but at 18/19 degrees positively chilly compared to what is coming in 5 weeks at Western States
Practised throwing water over myself at the aid stations - I am quite good at it
Some great training , well done team!
7.2km run first thing. 90m elevation. 30 minutes.
@Poet my pauper speed was for 2 reasons.
The wind. I really canāt ride into it. And it ruins me mentally and physically.
Secondly⦠And youāll be on board with this one. The Tri club were doing one of my normal loops. So I thought Iād give em a 15 min head start, try and catch.
Think the catch was within 10 milesā¦I then sat on the back of the group. As they went up an incline (I refuse to call it a hill) Garmin started autopausing it was so slow.
Watched some of the group make some awful overtakes on each other⦠Over the next 3 junctions at least a quarter of the group went the wrong direction. Including one of the coaches who almost T boned me as I went to make the left as he carried on (how I knew the route better than those that organised it⦠mystery).
Finally got to an actual hill⦠Having seen my pathetic AVG speed dwindle rapidly during the brief time with them⦠I rode off.
You are learning well, young Padowan
Riding off from the group ride in a huff is true Poet
Yeah, the wind was grim.
My app said 2mph.
My arse. 30kmh headwind for 1hr 9mins (I.e. uphill all the way home )
I wasnāt in a huff. But I aināt got time for social bike carnage.
Yeah was never 2mph. I saw you headwind stint. Fair play. My original plan was to do a southern loop after the first one. But that left me with an hour back into the wind. Nah.
I couldnāt deal with that. So looped where I was and cut some off. Bit naff really. Still, 2 odd hours and it wasnāt pancake flat.
Read your own posts!
I donāt do club rides. And Iām bored of all the routes near me.
No worries refuelling, I get to watch the Wolfpack ā¦and I broke my roadie remember?
Fair play!!!
Get out on the TT bike then
Iāve do the same routes most of the time.
I enjoy it that way
I did a new route last weekend, it was garbage.
Never again doing that route
@mw22 - that route is usually headwind/downhill out, tailwind/uphill home. Thatās the second time this year itās been the wrong way round
I think I offload all my dumb questions on this forum, or maybe itās just an an indicator of my intellect Anyway⦠I had a race today and the bike leg was slightly hilly. My bike average power over 35 mins was 255 and my normalised was 274w. When comparing against my FTP and race effort, should I compare against NP?
Does it tell you your intensity factor (IF)? If itās rolling NP is always likely to be higher but youāll get some rest periods.
Ah ok IF was 0.98, just looked that up and see that it also takes into account NP.
Assuming your FTP is correct then that sounds like a decent effort but about right for a short race. Other more knowledgeable people might say differently!
You werenāt at Stokesley were you?
