Training - What Training?!

Walked 5km into town to pick the car up. 45 mins

Just under 70km out on the bike with a mate last night on the Diverge, averaged 32km/h taking it in turns up front. Was basically 2km intervals! You can certainly motor along 2s up!

Yup!

For me … I did my standard ~100km route today. But backwards :upside_down_face::arrows_counterclockwise:
Mental, I know, right :joy:

Loads of trucks, traffic lights, tractors, plus a telephone call meant I stopped for 10 minutes :rage::hot_pepper:

All that stopping knocked me back to 29.8kmh for 102km.

Headwind out, which then changed for a headwind most of the way back too :sob::sob::sob:

225W NP Vs 200W NP on Sunday :exploding_head:

Bit of a light week for me. I’ll call it a recovery week. Spotted it in my diary a while back, that work and fam stuff would squeeze my time.

Not sure if I’ll have time to squeeze anything in tofsy or not. But I did at least do some S&C this morning.

Hoping for a few hours on the bike tmw morning though. Sunday is looking potentially booze and food oriented!

Longest ride of year for me.
All the way round I was wondering if my stats would appease @Poet .

Normally I’m to slow, to short or to flat…

Had some of the most patient drivers all with really good wide overtakes. Apart from Karen going to some festival who wanted to overtake, then veer left to turn right :bell::end:

So clear out too…had some amazing views. Wish I had camera on the bike. Could’ve stopped and got my phone out but then I’d be slow like Tom :kissing_heart:

You had 8:30 stopping time :joy::joy::joy:
But, strong ride :+1:t3:

Now, if you double that distance at that speed, you’ll match me :white_check_mark:

That’s my 10th road ride of the year :joy:
Not even done 2,000 miles yet :hear_no_evil:

Almost all of that was within a mile off the house trying to get in and out thru sawley.
I should really just wait till I’ve cleared that car park before starting ride.

Was slow till halfway, but then descending with tailwind picked up quick.

Do people use auto pause for junctions, traffic lights, cars, idiots crossing the road and all the rest of the crap we have to put up with?

Or just leave the clock running and divide it by distance and come up with kph ?

If it’s likely to be a minute or so I stop mine, otherwise I try and time it to avoid unclipping.

I use auto pause.
I found without it, I became a d1ck with lights changing and junctions and anything else that started to really slow my average.
Was taking unnecessary risks (which I know is pointless…but still did it).
Auto pause calms me the f£#k down :joy:

Same as Jeff for me. And then Strava will inevitably do it’s own thing and come up with a slightly different number from my garmin.

30 minute spin class at lunch.

30 minute swim tonight. Hopefully the c-unit from last night, who though doing breaststroke slowly in the fast lane, will not be there.

the only difference is my lunch runs don’t go long, same outcome though

Stopping for traffic lights?? Remember as cyclists we don’t need to stop at reds :smiling_imp:

Good week of training for me. I’m now doing 2 hard run sessions a week; 2x5k threshold and shorter intervals, everything else easy. Bonus session this week with a 10k race on Sunday!

I plan my routes to be all left-turns, roundabouts or clear junctions.

But I can’t account for idiots :joy:

The route I do ( it’s my only route) has 7 left hand turns in the middle of nowhere it’s a 10 k loop which includes hunters hill in its full form, dairy farm to rigby arms pub I’ve done 7? Laps without unclipping before now, bit boring but very very safe and very few cars.

31-32 kph and I know I’m in shape … working on it and avoiding the idiots !
