Rounded off the week with what ended up being nearly 16K trail run, it was part of our club’s annual Cleveland Way relay race, it was supposed to be a bit shorter but due to a few people covering multiple legs I said I’d start a bit earlier, but this also included a bit of a hill! albeit on tarmac.
In total I did a 5K walk to the start then a 4K trudge back to the car, so quite a long day.
Completely battered now.
It’s been a weird week with being back at work, it really does get in the way timewise I’ve managed about 12 hours. More running but a bit less cycling and the longest ride was 70K, also managed to get back in the river which really set my sinuses off.
Easy\taper week now before the double 70.3’s, will probably spend most of the week in between just taking it easy as well unless I can find a pool. But will probably do an easy parkrun.
Have been mega busy with work at the end of last week but did manage a 100 mile ride on Saturday in 6 hours (171W, 112bpm). Legs felt a bit tired after and my HR wouldn’t come back down again until the following morning but fairly happy for 2 main differences. Actually spent time on the drops for once - normally I just never do. And actually spent a decent amount of time pedaling. I think I tend to coast way too much on rides so I’m hoping that all the extra actual effort will give me some improvement.
40 min easy run at lunchtime. Just under 9km, nothing special. Legs were a tad tired but generally fine.
Then popped to the beach for a swim this evening. It was deserted today. Smooth due to no wind, but a constant rolling little swell. I’m not getting any faster, but my stamina is certainly improving. 50 mins ‘time in water’.
Another race on Zwift this morning. Richmond 1 lap. Not my ideal course (not found what is yet). Got dropped on the hills at the end 5th of 9. Good effort for an early start
I’ve been ill recently and my lungs still need to recover, but hopefully I can run again on Friday. Anyway, to make up for the lack of running I’ve been brisk walking, 2.5hrs yesterday and another 2hrs today - about 300m vertical each . I seem to have agreed to accompany a mate on a 100km event later this year, so consider this the start of my training
I was looking at a YT clip from Dave Roche, he has a great little routine for ultra runners than takes me less than 10 mins per day. I’ve found it easy to do every day, rather than say ‘oh I’ll do 45min on Wed’ and then that gets missed for someone reason and another week goes by.
