Training - What Training?!

Not too much, about 1560m vert.

Very similar to Race to the Stones then (also 100km’s) - plenty of non stop walkers did that event

Yes, I’m sure it will all be fine. Will be a great experience

Yeah, been to the physio a couple of times.

There are a couple of trigger points along the band which seem to be causing the problems.

What a frigger.

I didn’t have much time tonight, 30 mins on Zwift’s ā€˜portal climb’

Definitely do not think this @Annas!

I’d had enough walking after the Yorkshire 3 Peaks!

Hmm. Was supposed to be a second big week this week, but it is fast unravelling. For various reasons couldn’t get out yesterday and today is looking like a total loss as well.

Tmw will be tight, Sat is the eldest’s bday party. Then it’s her bday on Tues and we’re off camping on Wed. These are supposed to be my peak weeks. The perils of a September IM I guess.

Trying not to stress it. It will be what it will be.

I need to save the week myself, I managed a short swim this afternoon but some work that should have taken about 30-40 minutes is about 3 hours so far :face_with_symbols_over_mouth: (think I’ll be having an early afternoon next week!)

Weekend is looking dubious as well weatherwise.

Edit: forced myself out for a 4K job, unpleasant but no pain

When MrsB smashed her spine to pieces she wasn’t allowed to run for over a year afterwards. She did a few 100k walks in rehab, London to Brighton, RTTS, Isle of Wight etc. She generally came in 20-22hours and really enjoyed them.

That’s brilliant Bob and of course Mrs B. It’s definitely all do-able, just need to get used to time on my feet really. I don’t think I’ve ever walked with the sole purpose to cover kms before. Last weeks adventure of 2200m vert and 10km at altitude was quite a different challenge
Can Mrs B remember what her longest training walk was? Most of the plans I’ve read go upto 50kms

Mate, take a look at my Strava profile!

I’ve done naff all since Bolton

Gonna be a painful slog around Pembrokeshire

She says the longest she did was 7-8 hours, so approximately 30-35k ish but she did them regularly. She was allowed to turbo so used that for training as well.

From my casual observation blister management is critical as that is what appeared to take most walkers out on the day. I used to meet her at the checkpoints to sort out her back brace and her feet while she refulled. Pitstops were formula 1esq. No messing about. In, refreshed and out and ignore any grumpiness at the later stops :slightly_smiling_face:

Another few mixed days training for me which should have me in a good mood but for some reason I’m really grumpy.

New 20min power best of 326W during a Zwift TT race a couple of days ago. Could have definitely managed more. This morning, tried another race and another time getting dropped on the last climb. I was being distracted by a crying 3yo which didn’t help so I abandoned to help her. Was dead last by the time I rejoined 3 minutes later.

Did a mini run through with pt
He made a video of it… cringe.

Helps technique and pointed out the good and bad points, run speed average was quite good.

It’s coming

Your a wise man @Bob & in good company.

On the Barkley Marathon FB page the other day there was a quote from someone or other saying ā€œMore people have been defeated by blisters than mountainsā€.

That’s because mountains never get blisters :see_no_evil:
