Training - What Training?!

Ok, back on track a bit more today.

This morning I did a 30 min WU, 60 min Dan Plews IM specific session, 20 mins CD. All in aero, finishing just before 0800.

Then at lunchtime - does a 3.5 hour gap still constitute a brick  - i went out for a steady run.

On the run my HRM was playing the random number generator, so i did it all on feel. Probs a bit over IM effort, but very much on cruise control. Finished with 19.8kms and 294m elevation. Felt smooth and strong throughout.

Happy with that. Going to stuff my face tonight as our special takeaway van is on it’s last visit for the summer before they’re booked off at various festivals or what have you, plus a nice bottle of white chilling in the fridge.

Have to find the energy to host an 8yo party tomorrow, but then off work all next week which is sweet.

Yeah I’ll be shit for sure but no pressure etc…

Currently in Annecy and hoping to get a decent swim in while I’m here. Seems rude not to

It’s seems not all 5g is equal and I can’t post a pic right now :man_shrugging:t2:

Got a long walk in today. My cheap sports watch died on me after 5hrs, but according to my training partner we did 6hrs, 31km and 700m vert. No breaks needed, luckily our route takes us past a spring water fountain in the forest every hour, so we had no problems with hydration. Felt fine afterwards, but feel like I want some shoes with more cushioning - looking at the speedgoat 5

Love Annecy, great place, I’m sure you’ll be busy if you are on a family holiday but a ride up Col de la Forclaz and the view over the lake is well worth the struggle. Even though it says 7km @ 7% the last 3km are savage :joy:

Nowt for a few days, needed a break from all core strength and cardio.

Today I helped a mate with his DIY, doing manly things with Stanley tools  and being a right bloody bloke :joy:

Feel free to say hi as you both saunter past me on the run :slightly_smiling_face:

I’m on holiday as well, not far from @Adam I think. I do have a van loaded with ropes, MTBs, paddleboards, wetsuits so not exactly laying on a beach but also not proper IM training. I’ve also had a 24 hours of food poisoning / norovirus. It’s only the second time in my adult but man it’s been grim. I’m jealous of Ramsey and his confidence to push full thrust :grinning:

I was in Loch Ettrick at 0650 this AM but have to say, ouch, it was cold. So cold in fact that after about 50 minutes of crawl, I had to abort due to fingers becoming numb… that’s a new one on me for July!

Knees hurting after an hour on the trainer…ideas?

Tried squats after but too painful/worrying. Not agony but.

Tight hammys/quads/IB?

Turbo?
Changed position ? Saddle height? Shoes? Pedals?

I raised the seat about half way through which felt more comfortable. Felt way too low to start. Maybe that’ll sort it out for next time. Bars still feel too high.

I’m not on the trainer often at the moment, and I’ve just put an old roadie frame on it. Back of my mind says I was feeling the knees before all these changes and Frankfurt, when I had the tri bike on it.

Too many changing variables!

I’ll try lifting before cycling as well, next time.

Edit- this bike has slightly longer cranks too (!)

Hell of an effort, @FatPom.

Anyway, just 50 minutes in the gym this afternoon.

Rowing, 10 minutes, rest 2:00, 5 minutes.
2 sets each of donkey kicks, banded clams, banded bridges, sumo squats, calf raises, press ups, side planks.
