Training - What Training?!

Gentle 30 minute cycle this morning.

What a ballache.

Two sets of temporary traffic lights caught me out (even at 05:30 on a Sunday).

And swallowed a fly.

Just responding elsewhere to a guy moaning about 170km +4500m.

Just hanging onto my coffee and web surfing to fight off the inevitable hill reps, and there might even be a window this eve for a bike.

It’s really odd weather here in the Southern Uplands (in the Lowlands). It is like that joke from all areas of the UK about if it’s not raining it will be soon etc etc etc.

It rains, then I think “oooooh, it’s gone quiet on my velux”. I look out in anticipation, then it batters it down again. That has just happened!

I need to move to Spain. I need to find a long lost Irish relative to get an EU passport. I need sun and heat (ok, maybe not the recent type mind).

Think you’re missing the point.

For unwanted incidents / time spent on the road it WAS a ballache.

I can only dream of cycling that distance and elevation.

25 small hill reps done and yes, it was a tad moist but with a baseball cap on, I don’t really notice it. Saw a couple of cyclists, braver than I.

I’m going with Nike’s, possibly Peg trails

Nike Terra Kiger 7

They felt like the better match for hard acceleration on grass than the Peg Trail 4.

3hr gravel ride.
Great views, stung by a wasp and a delicious coffee at the new place in Alderley Edge :coffee::+1:t3:

Arrived home … “I wasn’t expecting you until 1pm”

But you’re going out at 1pm.

“No. I’m out at 2pm. You needed to be back by 1pm to get ready and drop me off”

:joy::face_with_peeking_eye:
Somehow mixed up my times and fluffed an hour.

I made myself a Nando’s with that hour.

I thought you weren’t supposed to stop for coffee on a 3hr ride :sweat_smile:

Could have been back even sooner.

It’s 2.5km from my front door - I stopped my ride there :joy::white_check_mark:

4:10 stopping time :sob::sob:
That’s mainly gates and ensuring they’re actually closed! Don’t want deers escaping onto the road :scream:

And I actually took a photo :exploding_head::selfie:t4:

I had no doubt you’d be there this weekend :roll_eyes:. With all the RCC guys today. If it’s shiny and sparkly you’ll be there :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

Strava thinks I’ve done 10 hours and 1 minute this week, but doesn’t include the few minutes in the pens before Zwift races. Also done quite a lot of rehab\strength work which is probably well over an hour. But my effort score is only 750. Been tired today after the burglar alarm went off at 11pm last night when I was probably in my deep sleep phase and it took ages to get back to sleep, probably the cortisol increase!

Anyway, improved week despite the weather, something like 6 hours on the bike, 2:30 swimming and actually did 3 short runs with no obvious pain, which amounted to 13K.

It’s the steelman next Saturday and despite my easy running this week I’m still not going to do the run, I don’t trust myself over 21k and know it would be a struggle to take it easy. It’s also a big jump in distance.

Bit of progress and if the next couple of weeks go well I’m aiming to keep building the running but probably avoid speedwork for at least a fortnight.

Doesn’t really matter but I’m still bummed out that life has interrupted my new routine.

Next week is all fucked up too.

My week has dropped from a planned 2nd big one in a row to an absolute crapper.

Mojo has well and truly vanished. It has been a busy week, with unplanned interruptions in the week, and I knew it would be tough this weekend. Yesterday with the eldest’s bday party and today out with friends and then cousins round at ours in the afternoon.

But I’d set some kit out last night. Deliberately didn’t set an alarm, but gave myself the option of a turbo or something whenever I woke up. But when I did I just could not be bothered. Just zero motivation. Said I’d do some thing tonight. But again, body is saying no.

I’m hitting some big training (for me) so I guess it’s a bit of accumulated fatigue, busy life stuff and I think I’m fighting an illness. But it’s not ideal. Camping next week, so training will once again be limited. Hoping for a tiny mojo increase to get one more big week in the one following to salvage my IMW campaign. Otherwise it’s gonna be a slow trot.

So yeah. Really not feeling the love right now. Looking fwd to exercising not training.

The usual 12 hours at a more sedate pace soarer from two basically flat out hour efforts
The z hyrox madness circuit had an average hr of 167 so working hard.

I’m actually underweight now, going to put 2 kgs on, if I do a late season tri it will come off with longer runs

Stick at it

Yay, the weather window held, that was, no rain for at least 3 hours. I did a lovely 2h20 bike, forgot just how quiet Sunday eve roads are.
