Seem to recall the drop off when I was there in 2019, Barcelona/Callela is the same.
Those stones are painful though!

Lifted tin, rode bike indoors. 2hrs.
Welcome to Budleigh Salterton, my home town. It’s the same here, though much less sunny!
Beach is great for swimming for that reason. Pebbles = no annoying sand in all your clothes/bags/sandwiches though!
Yesterday, 30 minute spin class.
This morning, 5 x 1.2k at the track, rest 2:00.
Average 4:55 which was slightly better than expected.
Planned recovery week this week, so was expecting lower numbers but at the same time ended up with an unexpected crap week last week. So got out for an (initially) unplanned 4hr ride this morning to level it out a bit. 4 weeks to go.
Planning on a big overload week this week, if life plays ball. Not swam in 2 weeks though which is not good. Need to get wet twice a week for the next month now. No excuses.
Decent enough ride today. Windy but dry. 117kms with 1700m elevation or so. Not taking enough cals on my training rides though. Was really feeling it in the back half.
1.5 hoursh hill reps on the bike. It’s a bit cool here, I was wearing shorts, 4 tops, buff, baseball cap, beanie, fingerless mitts, and mittens (it’s true, even on August 6th!).
Just thawing out now. At least I made the most of that wonderful heat wave that we had in was it end of May/June
Suffered a bit today in a longish ride, managed 115K with AP at 186W, but the HR graph shows that the second half got a lot more undulating and into the wind. And did a 2K test OTBR at a very easy pace.
Week started very quietly with a complete rest day, had a migraine on Wednesday which curtailed the evening plans, then the cancelled TT on Thursday. And was generally feeling a bit off colour for most of it.
Something like 11:30 overall but that excludes the weights and strength work I’ve done which is probably another 60-90 minutes. But my Strava effort score is actually less than last week
Anyway, reasonable week and 17K of running but I’m still nervous of going much further and faster just yet, despite the fact I suspect it’s mostly healed.
Up early for a run.
7.2km. 31 minutes. 93m elevation.
Another breakthrough ride this morning. 90 mins Zwift. 205W avg, 97bpm. First time I’ve managed >200W and <100bpm and got it by a decent margin. Here’s hoping I can start extending the time I can hold this power/effort.
Haven’t done anything since Friday, so made the most of a day off and ran an easy 12km road. 1.09 at 5.48 pace.
Left enough energy to join my Monday evening mates later, in theory
Yorkshire 3 Peaks knackered my legs
Who’d have thunk a 40km hike would do that
Anyways, had a rest day, then came to Windermere.
12km walk from the cottage, expensive ferry over the water (as the £1 one had its cable snapped!), then up to Claife Heights and back.
10.5km Rydal and Grasmere figure of eight walk.
1km paddle board (chucked it down as soon as we arrived, so bailed!)
4km jog up Orrest Head this morning, Nike Peg Trail 3 are fine when it’s dry and muddy just don’t take them near any wet rocks
nice
Had a nice training week last week:
Mon: 10.4km run/hike 244m vert
Tues: 2.5hrs climbing at the climbing wall (too wet to climb outside)
Wed: 10.4km run/hike 244m vert
Thurs 2.5hrs climbing
Fri: 41km hike 976m vert
Sat and Sun: climbed all weekend and even managed to work on a 6c+, which was a huge surprise after Friday.
Managed to get out this morning despite the weather warning for a windy 21km run/hike 532m vert. Very happy no branches landed on my head
11 mile run
Toby’s terrible ten (and a bit) - city centre randonee
Quite a few sections closed off which is nice. Much quieter. GF encouraging me to ride the route if possible
16.3 km run
Sunny
Windy
Hilly ish
4:51 per km
Av hr 147.
Easy work, got to get those park run times down!
Fabulous 1h20m run up in the clag for about an hour - there’s something nice, mystical about being up in the cloud… the eerieness, the silence, the lack of visibility, the seemingly lack of any life apart from self, the sense of achievement of knowing one’s way.
Bit of loose cartilage in right ankle - wants to drop me to the floor sometimes, like a short circuit, really weird. Had that before, about 20 years ago or so. Had to have arthroscopy to remove all of the floating loose shit!
Anyway I dedicate that run to the poor chap who died of a massive heart attack whilst out for a Sunday afternoon stroll 6/8 on the road at the back of my house/neighbours house - RIP.
Folks, live it and love it and squeeze every last ounce out of it
That’s an impressive week Anna, good work.
Thanks FP
me and Mrs FB are doing the Concept2 Dog Days challenge for August
Week 1 = 10k minimum
Week 2 = 20k minimum
Week 3 = 30k minimum
Week 4 = 40k minimum
Just started Week 2 - 6270m this morning (5 x 1000m and 2 mins gentle row between)
Last week was a good week of volume for me with 18:59 of training with 501km on the bike, 60km run. I need a holiday this week
