After a week on holiday with no training, I’ve started up fully committed again.

Have been to the pool - twice! First time in a few years and it definitely shows. Monday night was cramping badly but got through 2km (200m at a time). Today, tried to squeeze in a lunch swim and did 2km straight in 38:19 (1900m in 36:19). So a lot to do but pleased to be back. I think in 3 weeks time I should stop feeling like I’m swimming through treacle.

Back running and riding as well. Did a Zwift race last night and came last (5th). Have really struggled with races since being bumped up to Cat A. Really small fields and they just drop me on the hills - I can’t surge at all.

But feeling really motivated and ready for another big block of training

Whereabouts? Not much swell this weather is there?

Long ride planned.
Thought I’d go out after rush hour but before the sun got too hot.
First 2 hours… mostly cold. Low cloud and most with visibility quite bad

(Sign amused me considering)

Then the sun came out. The bottles I’d barely touched for 2 hours were depleted in no time as counted down to one of the few shops en route.

Then spent the final hour debating with myself if I CBA to round it up to 100.

Spoiler. No I could not.

Edit. Also shovelled food in at food stop… Cause #poetiswatching

Took 5 days off completely after a gentle 55km round the new forest felt like much harder work than it should have been. HR reflected that.

Gym session on Monday felt mostly fine, went out to run on Tuesday. Managed 5km but keeping my heart rate under 140 was near impossible without a lot of walking breaks, worse than when I ran 2 weeks ago. Just utterly fed up now. Feel like I might just have to stick to ultra low intensity gym stuff only for I don’t know how long…I could carry on but I’m concerned of massively prolonging the recovery process.

How fast were you running ?
Hills ?
Heat?

Two people I know have sold there entry for Bham, one is doing it quite badly injured … I know I did hint not too.

Is your hr sky high when you do the hard stuff
Wall balls
Burpees
Weighted lunges
Sled push?

Doctors?

First garden turbo for some time
Pretty crap and kept hr at 150 max

Only did an hour and holding aero wasn’t easy ( knew it wouldn’t be)

I guess this mornings torture was a continuous unbroken 54 min circuit one bit was

20 burpees ( chest to the floor)
20 wall balls
20 knee to floor lunges ( 20 kg weight)

What the duck do you expect I guess, the floweres look nice anyway !

5-5:30 min kms. It was hot yesterday lunch time and some one did suggest I might just be more sensitive to the heat at the moment.

Light weighted lunges were fine. I haven’t dared try the rest yet. Did chuck a 50kg sandbag over my shoulder 3x4 which was certainly spiking it but not crazy. The run was more concerning me.

I don’t think its a Drs job yet. Other (non super active) people are saying its only been 4 weeks since you finished give yourself more time…I may need to taper myself back in more slowly than I currently am.

Down Devon south coast. Monday mainly, dropped off rapidly on Tuesday. Not even ankle snappers today.

You did that mad ride across Europe ?!
With spooner ? Cycling machine ?

I kept looking at the thread and thought it was a problem bike race ?!? Lol
As you say that will take some recovery time.

In the heat I’m not sure I’d go too fast with a 140 av hr, even good runners like bongo need a higher hr to shift on.

Probably just time ?
T mill at 12 kph the same ?

Gym first thing.

3.5k row.
2 sets of donkey kicks, banded clamshells, banded bridges, sumo squats with a kettlebell, cal raises, an cycle.

I’ll break 90mins for it soon.
Promise :white_check_mark:

First time ever worn a trisuit in Scotland for training before 0600!

bike 26.5 miles 2733 feet ascent, 1h55

Might have said 18 degrees but I forgot that once I dropped down to the valley there was really thick mist and to be honest twas somewhat tepid, with visibility about 6 feet.

Saw 3 runners out early, I guess everyone sniffs for the weather and then makes the most of it.

Love climbing up and speeding down Guffolk Hill. Just one thing, the 4 x Cs are not good bedfellows: Clive, cycle, cowshit, cattlegrid. This time I was extra careful having nearly come off before with slippery slimy shite on my tyres.

Nice climb up the Mennock pass to finish with. Job done. And breathe.
