Training - What Training?!

Opposite for me with barely 2:30 :frowning: things started reasonably with 2 swims and 2 easy bikes after recovering from the trail race. But as per the other thread went rapidly down the pan (quite literally :unamused:) on Thursday.

Hardly felt like doing anything since, I’m slowly getting better and it had largely passed by Thursday evening.

I did do a very easy 26k on the bike this morning and will see how it goes the next few days but being careful not to drag this on. Just feel lethargic so I guess the microbiome and gut is still recovering!

Strewth - what was it before you started TCR?

Short run, 10mins steady, 10 * 30s drill into 30s strides focus, and 10 minutes or so easy to end.

Too bloody hot though

As @Hammerer may have mentioned, it’s massively skewed to cycling.

It’s relatively easy to get it up to 150 on about ten days of 100-200km easy bike rides. If you’re coming from the 70-80 area.

If you’re being a triathlete, or runner, or swimming, then it’s hard.

Mine jumped from 71 to 84 with just one bike ride :joy:

I can get a jump of around 10 with a 60km run or 20 maybe with a lumpy 100miler but just now way I will get those kind of numbers without a ton of cycling

I used to think it a bit unfair but ignore the overall numbers now and just use as a relative measure of my own fitness

33km shuffle/walk. Hiked to Croyde on the coast path, caught the bus to Barnstaple (only £2, bargain!). Found my way to the rugby club and set the GPX going for the NC110km route and ran back to Puts.

Just after the start, weather was miserable but soon changed

This is very true. Try doing a run with a TSS of 500 and then repeat the next day

I always love telling the story of an IMJ’er who decided to cut out swimming as it was causing him to “detrain”

Should be a steady run, HR crept up, mainly due to hills and heat, 2 laps of local park 4.4km
below average chest day, 600 top score on the Peak Flow Meter, 560, and 500 low

Really tough session Thursday do tomorrow is two slow ( I know I only have one speed these days !) swims and some core.

Im not saying swimming is easy!
Most everything else the harder you try the faster / better/ stronger you go

Swimming … nope
It’s a dark art for sure, well done on the runs.

Surf was blown out this morning, so we went for a hike to Lee via Morte Pt on the SWCP. First time in that direction for Mrs FP and LO did not ease her apprehension by asking her if she was ‘really sure’ she could cope?
They all did brilliantly but the pace was slower than last year when it was just LO and I.
Got to Lee, turned around and when we got to Bull Pt lighthouse, we took the road into Morthoe and had a monster lunch at the Ship Aground. My eyes were bigger than my belly. LO was going gangbusters until one of her milk teeth fell out :man_facepalming:t2:  She was fine.
Walked into Woolacombe for some bread and bananas, then we picked up an ice cream at the Port Hole cafe. 30 mtrs from the cafe and 4 licks in, my ice cream lump ejected from the cone and hit the deck. I didn’t care, we’d all had an epic day. They’ve gone swimming now. I have not
