Training - What Training?!

Hey FP,
One of the great things about doing Ultras is that the stress of everyday life just fades away and you become engrossed in the race and your surroundings!

The race might actually come at a good time, just don’t put additional stress on yourself.

Haha agree with that, to a point.

But at the same time… you could say, one of the great things about dropping a breeze block on your foot is that it takes your mind off your headache

edit: completely different subject, but might have set a PR this morning for least elevation gain in a 10km run:

@explorerJC, @Matthew_Spooner & @fruit_thief – Thanks for the kind words gents. :sunglasses:

Oddly, early morning runs work best for me, with less traffic & pedestrians to dodge.

Cheers, Paul.

PS - @fruit_thief – Please add your great motivational quote to the Ultra thread in events.

Went for a 5km run Wed, 3hrs of climbing yesterday and a 8.5km run this morning. Don’t know how fast I was, don’t really care, just ran with mates at a slow chatty pace and felt happy afterwards :+1:

About to say that myself, @explorerJC.

Anyway, 4 x 500 in the pool last night, rest 1:00.

Asthmatic 6km for me.
Felt like walking home after 3km.

A few km of kayaking…some escorting swimmers in coached sessions, some to find some peace in an empty lake…

Up against it today, lots to do and little time for me and exercise…

8.5 hours here this week: 3.5 hours on the bike (just commuting), 3 hours run, 2 hours swim.

That’s week #9 back in the saddle after a layoff.

On Friday this week is club aquathlon 500m swim / 5km run. Should be fun & a good tester for the National Series season opener the following Saturday. It’s at 4pm so run will be hot, and the swim is in a 50m pool.

Weather has turned really nice, a few degrees cooler, training is a real pleasure at the mo :+1:

Got dropped 4km from home :see_no_evil::joy:
I mean, I was going the other way anyhow, but still :sob::sob::sob:

Back to 8 hours for me without a long ride. I didn’t do the race today as a precaution but did a short hike\trail run at a very easy pace, ankle is sore but not really bad and having done this many times over the years I know it heals fairly quickly.

Did a couple of decent Zwift sessions and slightly further with the swimming.

Would have like a bit more running and today was going to be a quality session but one missed session isn’t the end of the world.

Squeezed an hour in on the turbo bringing me up to seven hours for the week. Probably just about acceptable for this time of year I guess.

Did 9k steps today including a 4km walk up on the common on hilly, loose, pebbly ground.

Felt reasonably OK. But this evening all the hurty things, of which there are many, are just dialing it up a few notches!
