Training - What Training?!

Great year
Well done!

I hope for some fast ish outside rides in races and one VERY long one this year, but like you 90% ( not 100 lol) of my cycling will be done indoors/ turbo…

60 is the new 50 anyway ?!?

Had to deal with some life curve balls, missed two swims and a short easy bike. Sleep score and HRV have leapt up. It seems my body is happier when training fairly hard and I hit the sack early.

Got in some walks by a frozen lake with my youngest too.

Good training.

What about the bike hours as kms depends on the setup and is less meaningful (except comparison with ones self for other periods with the same set-up.)

That’s a really good turnaround Paul, I know you’ve struggled with time and volume in previous.

As for mileage, as I’ve said before, I’m really the rank amateur on here when it comes to this distance stuff, thanks for the shout out though.

Poor week for me but a few reasons and a complete day off on Monday which was the first for about 4 weeks, probably needed an easy week though.

About 6 hours split about 60/40 cycling/running. Did some quality on Zwift though, particularly with the Tiny races.

One quality session on the dreadmill and a longer trail race today that was time on feet rather than distance.

Hopefully pick things up a bit this week, still in denial about swimming!

Calf is improving (haven’t really noticed it for two days) so completed a long run. Managed 21km today, slow to manage the load on it, and its not sore but I can feel it. I’ll see what happens in the morning.

Weekly totals
Overall - 13hr 30min

:man_swimming: None, should have gone to the Tri club Saturday swim really but couldn’t be doing with de-icing the car. As it happen it didn’t freeze during the swim so would not have had to de-ice the car to come home.
:biking_man: 9hr 2min
:man_running: 4hr 2min
:man_lifting_weights: 26 min

Happy with that as I had the discipline to still train even though the temperature and conditions weren’t great most of the week.

Nice work!!!
That is way better than mine :see_no_evil:

Yup!!!
Long summer runs into work on a Wednesday morning, having taken all of my stuff in the day prior. In the days before laptops and WFH :joy::see_no_evil:
Or double run days, where I’d run a longer way to the cinema after work to meet friends for “Orange Wednesday”

Just a hydration bladder or fuel belt.

Todays training focus is recovery.

I’m doing okay, a little 1.8km walk and my Garmin has just pinged me ‘Recovery time improved’

Hour bike, 2x20mins at 221W

Hour treadmill run, peasy pace, 288W

Somewhat disappointed that Garmin gave me a 0% Execution on meeting the exact target pace

I did a short run with 2*2K at lunchtime at what I had planned of being around 4:25K pace, hopefully HMP, ended up being a bit faster  but not suicidal, felt absolutely knackered though.

Then did the Zwift TTT at what was supposed to be a steady pace! first half wasn’t helped when one of the team had a broadband dropout and had to get his turbo to reconnect, think it’s a directconnect? He then caught up and the last 18k’ish was somewhat harder than the advertised pace :grimacing: well for me, if not for them! Hung on just about after they slowed a few times. Oddly felt better than the running earlier.
