Training - What Training?!

Mine has a bit of a fit yesterday and reckons I got to 185 which I’m sure I’d have known about.

Although I think there was a low battery warning at the weekend so could be that.

I can’t face running the same route through traffic at 5 or 8 degrees anymore. I did it for years. I’m on strike. Then the trees turn green I will start. I’m not cycling either. It s fucking miserable.

I have fine the last week or so with two watches for every session
Polar ft7 ( chest strap )
Garmin vivosctive 4s ( or some bollocks ) obviously wrist based

For static bikes they both read very very similar results the garmin has the odd “ drop out” but soon recovers

For virtually anything else the garmin is pretty useless to be honest, quite good at counting steps and guessing calories ( but if your Hr is way out during exercise I’ve seen 88 and 204 yesterday alone during quite a hard session this has to be miles out too ?)

Absolutely, not too different from your run last year

So I gathered, the mountain bike centre at Llandegla were happy not to have to close again.

Were you over that way @Poet?

Went to Betws for lunch, then a wander in Clocaenog Forest, aye. Silky smooth tarmac round there! The B5105 is super smooth.

2hrs and 51km on Zwift. Did The Tour Stage 5 A Group to tick the route off, then easy half hour riding “with” and chatting to a mate.

Longest ride in sometime.

Was really enjoying my sport last week, until…
Wed: 5km trail run
Thurs: climbing
Fri: 7km trail run
Sat: climbing and have slightly strained my pec. I don’t know how I did it, i was climbing my warm-up route and all of a sudden, felt a pain. It’s really weird and the pain is very movement specific. For example, I can do push-ups against the wall with no pain, but I can’t press down on the soap dispenser or tamper my coffee. Have to take a break from climbing, hopefully a weeks rest will do the trick :crossed_fingers:
Sun: 7km trail run…because I can’t climb.

It’s things like this, that make you realise you’re getting older. Going to have to incorporate a proper warm-up routine, before I even start climbing in the future. I usually just climb four easy routes increasing in difficulty, before working on the hard stuff.

22km trails with the dog - no Mrs T this week due to an aching calf

9 hrs this week

73km of running

Missed a couple of days due to work

Current fitness level according to Training Peaks only exceeded last year after 72 mile outing down the SDW with @p00key and a little jaunt along the South West Coast Path for 110km - very pleased with that

Very disappointed with todays training, well more the feeling.

26.2km run, was meant to be 30km, foot pain and hip flexors that didnt want to play. Just one of those days. Was 10sec per km slower than the last three weeks as I was intending to going a bit further, so not sure pace was the issue.
The last 4 weeks going back in time 22km, 27km, 24km, 22km, 21km.

Think it was probably a jump in weekly volume, not enough carbs after yesterdays 16km (10 mile run.)

I guess sleep was not great either. Love the ever moving puzzle… otherwise life would be boring.

Monday: 9k run, started easy with zl then 6 reps of Campion Hill, legs felt surprisingly good, given it is less than a week after a 50km run.
